30th floor views, excellent steaks/seafood choices and very good wine list

We had a window table and 30th-floor view of Springfield at night. (Reserve early.) My wife ordered lamb chops and pronounced them excellent. I ordered sea bass. It, too, was very good. We found the list of wines by the glass very good. All were at least $10 a glass. Service was professional and... read more

Mediocre food but one of the best views from a Springfield restaurant. I had the grilled fish and hubby had a steak, both were ok, we also had the lobster bisque which was so so. Pricey for the quality. Great service and cocktails tho!

Holly - thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback. Glad you enjoyed the view and the service, but a little disappointed you found the food only "so-so." Perhaps you'll find some of the new items on our upcoming summer menu a little more to your liking....that debuts next week. The lobster bisque is staying, however....=). Please come... More

Thank you, Arthur. We're glad you and your wife enjoyed the meal AND the view. Just a head's up regarding our wine selection: we are expanding our cellar this fall, hence you can expect a larger wine list with a wider selection and price point. So if you plan a trip back this way later in the year you might... More

At the top of one of the world's ugliest hotels, the only attribute being a great view, this restaurant offers high quality steaks and incredible desserts. The other entrees are unique and dispite the mid west location, I found the Sea Bass to be almost perfect. Try the lobster bisque, best I have ever had. And I didn't know corn... More

PJ - Thank you for taking the time to offer your kind words. We forgive you the "world's ugliest hotel" dig in exchange for the restaurant rave. And, frankly, you may not be too far off the mark...lol. But, we do have damn fine restaurant and we appreciate you saying so! Come back and see us again soon! More

How nice to find the best restaurant on the 30th floor of our hotel. The room is small and eloquent with expansive views. If you are not seated by a window, save room for a drink at the lounge with a view next door. It was a nice touch that there was background music of jazz divas and crooners. And... More

Atmosphere is posh and the view of Capitol is amazing, however the filet I ordered was only average needing the mushroom glaze to camouflage its mediocrity. Overall, I would recommend it because of the ambience and service. Besides that we thought we sitting next to Bruce Rauner making it quite fun.

Kathleen - we're so sorry you were in any way disappointed with your meal. I hope you'll allow us to show you that this is not the norm. I can't promise you the Governor will be seated next to you, however - if he is - I can pretty much guarantee he's not picking up the tab! Thank you again... More

Dear 275 - We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your meal with us. It's apparent you are a bit of a foodie and it always means a lot to us when we get a verbal "high five" from someone who truly appreciates good food and service. Prom is....well, we were all young once, were we not? Maybe come back... More

This was a very nice dinner. Staff was very welcoming and very friendly. Cocktails were well prepared. The wine by the glass list was limited, but the selections were good, and not overpriced. Our steaks were the correct temperature and high quality. A most enjoyable evening. On a side note, it was Prom weekend. The staff was very good at... More

Our anniversary dinner here on April 23rd could not have been more perfect. From the extremely welcoming hostess, to the elegant setting, and view from the 30th floor, all was exceptional. We ordered the filet and grilled lobster (surf and turf) and it was prepared perfectly. Steaks arrive with a slight crust topper from a selection of your choosing along... More

Bill (and Mrs. Bill)....thank you for choosing us to mark your anniversary and for the generous helping of praise! We're glad, especially, to hear how much you enjoyed the service of Rick Ramsey. It's an overused term, but he really is an "old school" professional server and I have personally never encountered better service anywhere in town. And that's an... More

We took my brother-in-law and some friends to Nick & Nino's for dinner. We had a great time, good food, nice atmosphere. Four of us had steak and one had the bass. They started us out with a huge bread basket with an assortment of yummy breads. The lobster bisque was a little spicy for one member of our group... More

Hi Shauna - so glad to hear you made us your choice for your special occasion. For better or worse, our lobster bisque does have a bit of a kick to it, but the overwhelming consensus seems to be that's a good thing! There is nothing worse than a salad drowned in dressing, however, no matter how good that dressing... More
