An interesting stop and pretty good corn dog too!

Nothing fancy. Just a diner that has survived the years. Filled with tons of interesting photos, posters, relics and mementos of it's past and route 66. Do stop in.

They have the best battered dogs around! It has a great history so it is a very interesting stop. You will see something new each time you visit.

Friends visiting Springfield often ask to visit Cozy Dog Drive Inn. They don't realize that the food is just average but that doesn't matter. The history and the Route 66 memorabilia are the prime attractions. Cozy Dogs (hot dog on a stick deep fried in a cornmeal batter) are good. Fries, for me, tend to be greasy and not pleasant... It is an unique place that makes a business off of selling corn dogs. I have to admit I was skeptical at first but was pleasantly surprised at how good they tasted. Better than any frozen dog I ever had as a kid. Not some where I would go again but worth the stop to try it.

The food is always great, the employee's are very friendly and very knowledgeable about Route 66. The Cozy Dog should be part of anyone's visit to Springfield. I have been eating here since I was a kid and have made this one of my kid's and grand kids favorite places to eat in Springfield.

Corn dogs taste better when you're sitting in the dining room at the Cozy Dog. Located on the south side of Springfield on old route 66, the Cozy Dog still serves a classic lunch menu for people tring to recreate the early days of cross country travel. It is located just down the street from the Route 66 Motel. You... More

So this is listed as one of the historic hotels in Sprignfield. Loved their corndogs. It was different and not something that I dont see in chicago. The restaurant could use detailed cleaning though.

It was great to comeback to the Mecca of the Corn Dog, you can not get a better corn dog than from here they taste like heaven, the batter they use it so fluffy and soft and even though they are deep fried there is no sign of any grease. The only reason to visit Springfield in Winter.
