Route 66

We live in IL and had yet to get to this place. So today was the day, finally. Three of us ordered the corny dogs and one ordered the huge tenderloin. All was delicious! And the load of fries that came was too much for the four of us to finish. You can get fountain drinks or pick one up... read more

This is a place to stop because of what it is...an old route 66 stop. It is supposed to be the birthplace of the corndog. It was set up like a diner and you ordered your food at the counter. Since it was busy, there was a bit of a wait for the table and food. However, the food was... More

Unfriendly staff, poor food and the everything self service left it one step short of making the food yourself. The decor doesn't live up to the hype.

This was our second trip to the Cozy Dog Drive Inn and again, it was crowded. We had the corn dogs which were excellent, nice and crispy! Lots of history and many vintage cars pulled up while we were there.

I'm glad I went once. The coney dogs were good. Nice selection of toppings at a self serve area. The fries were greasy. Nothing good to say about them. We got 4 coney dogs, large fry, and 2 large drinks for under $15.00, I believe.

good food, great price. we stopped headed south and it was soooooo good we stopped headed north too. the hand dipped corn dogs or "cozy dogs" were the best. onion rings, fries and mushrooms were deep fried and not greasy....

Must see original diner on route 66 , home of the Cozy dog corn dog on a stick. Americana at its best , great food, corn dog just terrific and the fries are superb. Worth the stop just to enjoy origin of the corn dog and old time atmosphere

Great atmosphere for the Route 66 traveler and good food! Being the "home of the cozy dog" I of course, ordered them and of course nothing goes with corn dogs like onion rings. Both were very good, but don't come here expecting fine cuisine. If you're a '66er, try to visit at a slow time, so you can peruse all... More

My family and friend (an older lady) love Cozy Dog! Makes us think of being at the Fair without the heat, rain, bugs, etc. Food is delicious and they have more than just dogs, root beer and fries. The people are friendly and helpful and the place if very clean!

We passed through Springfield, on our way to Chicago, and I was excited to see this place pop up, when we started looking for somewhere to eat. This is exactly the kind of stop that should be on every road trip. The echoes of the historic Route 66 are strong, and the food is great. The burger was a simple,... More
