A real old skool diner. What was once a drive through in the 50s, is now a well established little diner, surrounded by memorabilia and nostalgia (not to mention the great dogs themselves). Well worth popping into if you're in the area, and even if you're not for that matter.

This was a must see on our road trip!! It did no disappoint!! The decor is so retro & we loved it!! Food was delicious (cheeseburgers, cozy dogs, fries, chili dog, mushrooms). Prices were very good! We will definitely stop again!!

Ed Waldmire Jr., the founder of Cozy Dog Drive Inn in Springfield, Illinois, tells an interesting story about how he discovered what turned out to be the staple of his restaurant. In Muskogee, Oklahoma, so the story goes, Waldmire saw an unusual sandwich called "corn dog," a sandwich with a wiener baked in cornbread. It was very tasty, he said,... More

This is an iconic diner on route 66. Lots of Route 66 memorabilia throughout the diner. The cozy dog is good, but I found the onion rings a bit too greasy for my taste. Fun place to visit.

Fun place on the original Route 66. A "cozy dog" is a corn dog. I love corn dogs and these did not disappoint. Small gift area featuring Route 66 items. Staff very pleasant and accommodating.

Although the building itself isn’t anything special, inside is Route 66 nostalgic. The food is good—you MUST get a cozy dog, or two. We got the special that came with fries. There is memorabilia of Route 66 and the owners' own collection. If you’ve ever been to Hackberry, Arizona, located off Route 66, this is the perfect complement to that... More

Again, not good. Ordered a plain hot dog. No flavor, boiled, YUK! French fries were really good. Ordered a bowl of grease, um I mean chili. Nasty. Breading on the Cozy dog was like a sweet bread batter. DIL said the burger was good.

This is truly an attraction, more than a restaurant; we stopped in on a Saturday evening for a root beer float after our dinner and were tickled to stroll around the dining area, reading all the information about Route 66, the origin of the corn dog on a stick, and viewing lots of memorabilia from the 1950s. Outside, there’s a... More

My kids hate corn dogs and they loved these. Food was delicious, best fries I have ever had and the prices are so reasonable.

Having last been to Cozy Dog in 2005, I was hoping it would live up to my memories, and it did. Simple food, fair prices, hours of memorabilia to peruse on the walls. The corn dogs and fries were not a bit greasy, but crisp and perfectly cooked. Burgers and hot dogs in our order were also just right. 17... More
