Sympathique little bistro!

This charming bistro-épicerie is to be found in the Old Market section of Omaha. The walls are covered with wines, spirits and delicacies of all kinds. The menu is short and the simple. Good charcuterie and rillettes that goes well with the outstanding home-made breads. The Lapin à la Moutarde... read more

Great atmosphere, interesting food selections, many wine options! We got our wine quickly, and then we leisurely picked an appetizer. The cheese plate was fabulous. Then more wine and another shared appetizer. It was wonderful to slowly enjoy the food drink and atmosphere. They did not hurry you. Wonderful! Ended up there 2 nights in a row during our weekend... Popped in during the farmer's market--nice atmosphere but strangely hostile and uninformative service--server offered no menus or way to find out what was possible to order. We were pleasant and undemanding, and ordered (sloshed into the saucer) coffee and got out ASAP. Don't know what we did wrong to merit such treatment.

Our food took forever when we ordered a salad and soup, and the manager came over when we complained to the server that the soup was cold and she went back and promptly made a rude sarcastic comment about the customer to the server within our hearing! Not a good experience and very nasty soup. Not a romantic time when... More

I will admit the menu options on the day of our visit, were a bit disappointing. We had heard so much of this place and looked forward to eating there. So when I saw the menu, I was let down. I know the menu changes daily so I am confident that on another day I would have liked the choices... More

The service was poor. We waited ages for our food and when it arrived my order was incorrect: the ham was missing from my hot sandwich. The waiter had actually asked me if I wanted ham but he forgot to order it. As I was driving I decided to drink coffee rather than wine. I was informed that there was... More

This is one of the best restaurants I have been too. Great fresh food, simple ingredients, well sourced and taken care of with excellent wine and good service!

I was in town for the Berkshire AGM. The town was crazy. The Buvette was a retreat. The menu was interesting and changed daily. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was great and the price reasonable. It was a welcome change from the banquet meals at the investment dinners and the steaks that have prevailed on this trip.

On a recent trip to Omaha for business, we realized we did have enough days to try so many highly rated restaurants. We decided to have a progressive dinner throughout the Old Market area. We started at the La Buvette for drinks and an appetizer. We all ordered the caprese salad and loved the mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, fresh basil and... More
