Whiskey Steak Special

Every time someone asks me where to get the best steak in Omaha, I say "The Drover." It's a bit of a blast from the past - that 1970's era steak house with dark, thick plank wood beamed walls, and therefore, crappy acoustics, stiff cocktail drinks and tiny, lounge holding bin - especially if you... read more

After having one excellent steak dinner in Omaha, we were looking forward to a second one. Unfortunately, this place did not meet our expectations. The service was just average & we were seated in a small room where you could hear all the conversations in the nearby tables. We thought the food was over priced. I had a regular grilled... More

So this place is an institution - people will say you have to give it a try. Service can be god, and it also can be rude. Depending on how busy they are, you might feel like you are part of the herd. Good steak, but not the best in Omaha.

This is my favorite steak place in Omaha. I was there recently and went two nights in a row. The whiskey marinated steak is worth the trip. The salad bar is a great touch, chilled plates and all. This is what a steakhouse should be, it's dark, the bar is great as well. I've never had a bad meal at... More

We visited the Drover on a Wednesday night. We went in and were told there was an hour wait, which actually ended up being a 40 minute wait. A lot of people walked in and left when told it was an hour wait. This is a dingy place. Apparently, 15 watt light bulbs are the norm. I had to use... More

The Drover has been in Omaha for many years and there whiskey steak is to die for. They are a little pricey but worth it. Its a little dark inside like your in a cave but great place to take a date. Not really kid friendly.

Food was amazing!!! I have been here before but my fiancé is not from the area so decided to take him. It was a Thursday around 7pm and we did not have a reservation, they told us it would be about an hour wait. He naturally didn't want to wait but I convinced him. After sitting and waiting many more... More

The Drover is a classic style steakhouse. Straight forward menu heavy on beef items. Also featured is a salad bar, which are becoming rare these days. We split the prime rib as the smallest size is still quite large. Adding an extra salad bar to the tab we were both able to enjoy a fresh salad before our entree was... More

We pass through Omaha on our annual summer road trip from Houston to Door County, WI. We always try to make it in time for dinner at The Drover. Steaks are excellent and service is outstanding. The atmosphere is cozy and "old school." Wish we lived in Omaha just because of The Drover!

I typically go to the Drover about 2 or 3 times a month. It never fails to have great food and great drinks. It is a bit pricey and you do want to call well in advance to get a reservation. The restaurant is well known nationally and picks up lots of out of town customers when any events are... More
