I agree with other posters who warned that inconsistency is the main problem here. Beer is the draw. Food is usually good, especially the tomato soup and gouda ale soup. Sandwiches are usually winners. The problem comes when you order something with nuance, like jamabalaya. C'mon, this is Nebraska, and they don't know from jambalaya. Still worth a visit. more

I think the Omaha steak is overhyped, at least it is here. The steak was sort of bland, with no, or very little seasoning before cooking. The French butter covering the steak didn't bring out the flavor either. My friend had the burger and also noticed the blandness. The peel and eat shrimp appetizer was very tasty. I don't know... more

My wife and I were in town to gamble a bit (over on the Iowa side). We were looking for somewhere else to eat and found this amazing place. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing Pale Ale (for your beer snobs out there), and the fish and chips and gouda ale soup were fantastic. I don't know if I have ever... more

Loved the steak and the beer sampler. My 9yo really liked their in house brewed root beer. Liked that it is a local Omaha restaurant and quaintly tucked in a former fire hall building of the Old Market district. Would definitely eat here again if I'm ever back in Omaha and would order the root beer online if they shipped. more

Ate here on my way to KC. The beer was very good, the food was horrible. Four of us ate, I had the Jackson Street Jambalaya listed as spicy creole, it was about as spicy as black pepper. Mix was thrown on rice and if I didn't know any better would say tossed in the microwave. My brother and sister... more

Food was just OK, barbecue chicken pizza was perhaps the only food item we would order again. We enjoyed the Capitol Pale Ale, but surprisingly they were out of the Wheat Beer. Chilly service was correct, efficient, and ensured that the tables turned quickly, but we didn't enjoy our experience at all. Maybe the service was too efficient, and the... more

We were here recently with friends and our kids. We liked this place so much we ate here twice for dinner. While the beer is really good (I highly recommend the Honey Raspberry Ale!), the food is fantastic. Everybody really liked the food they ordered, even the kids. And while this place is a brewery, it is amazingly kid-friendly. We... more

The fried calamari is a good appetizer, the Jackson Street Jambalaya is outstanding (very spicy). My spouse likes the Salmon or the Fish and Chips. You can't go wrong here. more

We had a great experience at Upstream. A very friendly and knowledgeable server, unbelievably fast service (even on a busy night), and a pretty awesome beer tasting. We tried 12 of their fresh handcrafted beers for less than $12 and ended up taking home a growler of their IPA, which was really tasty. Try the smoked gouda and blonde ale... more
