We had a wonderful meal at a gem in Omaha's Old Market area. It's been awhile since we had been here and this chef won our hearts with excellent sauces to accompany each choice and innovative approaches to classics. My husband loves sweetbreads and I don't, so the cranberry lentil concoction below them was a delightful surprise. We highly recommend... More

My husband and I loved how secluded this restaurant was in the old market. Our drinks were full of flavors and plenty alcohol. The food was kind of hit or miss. I love menus that change and have unique dishes but there were a few I wouldn't say were especially good. The service was what you'd expect from an upscale... More

My husband and I come here a few times a year for special occasions. Actually this is even where we got engaged! I have never had a dish that wasn't one of the best things I've ever eaten. The chef is very creative with food combos, and I like that when I come here I don't kill my gallbladder with... More

Terrific menu and wine selection. Plenty pricey so save up...it is worth the splurge. The beef was so classically Omaha-well aged and prepared without overcooking it. It is tough to get a table at peak times, so call ahead for a reservation.

This classic bistro pub like setting has not changed in the past 30 years in a good way. The only thing that is updated is the diverse menu which is supported by some well trained and qualified cook staff. We ate there before going to the symphony and were able to take our time, but also our wait person made... More

V. Mertz has the best atmosphere of any fine dining restaurant in Omaha. This is not just about eating, but the experience of enjoying culinary excellence. To truly enjoy V. Mertz you have to have the correct mindset. It is expensive to eat there. You must be able to ignore the prices and go for the adventure. The reward is... More

I wish I could do 3.5 stars, but, I rounded up since my wife liked her meal a lot. This would definitely be counted as "Fine Dining" for Omaha. However, I'm not sure I would be willing to pay the premium that is associated with that label anytime soon. I will admit, I'm not much of a foo foo type... More

I first dined at V Mertz in the '80's as a grad student at Creighton. I became a frequent diner because I found it to be one of the absolute best restaurants in America, let alone in Omaha. I moved away from Omaha in 1985, but have returned every few years simply to dine at V Mertz, Omaha's hidden gem.... More
