Sunday Lunch Along the Sorgue

A plateau of fresh oysters followed by trout from the Sorgue - along with a well chilled rosé - this is the place to be as the Sunday market winds down. L'Ecailler's place along the river is situated so you'll enjoy the early afternoon sun. The staff is attentive and friendly. Reserve a table if... read more

We stopped by L'Ecailler because of the nice patio on Le Sorgue. What a wonderful treat! We were interested in a snack, so I ordered oysters gratinee' and my wife had the fruits de mer (seafood) salad. Both dishes were wonderful and made us want to try other things. A special treat was the friendly service. Both our server and... More

Lovely spot by river on main drag good for people watching on market day. We had oyster platter, very fresh and well served. Noticed excellence of waiting staff who were unusually attentive for France. They were particularly helpful to non french speakers. Nice food, moderate price, would go back

The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. The swordfish was delicious. My dad had the seafood salad with was huge, he couldn't finish it. It was a bit more expensive, but was worth it for the quality and amour of seafood you received the service was very good as well.

We had heard that Provence has the best food in France, and our first night in Provence, we went to L'Ecailler and it lived up to the reputation. Christine runs the restaurant and she is wonderful. We had grilled sole and lobster ravioli. My sole was cooked to perfection - so tender and fresh with a hint of pesto sauce... More

This is a seafood specialist restaurant but my wife and I for once fancied steak. The steak etc. was ok and the wine great, however the stand out was the service and friendliness of the staff, something that is missing in L'Isle sur la Sorgue. The location is great, would i go back, yes but seafood next time.

We had a very pleasant meal on the patio overlooking the Sorgue River, which is really one of the main attractions here. The menu is fairly extensive, and consists mostly of fresh seafood. Our meals were very good, though everything was a bit on the expensive side. The service was excellent - extremely friendly, efficient, and courteous. I'd recommend if... More
