A good restaurant for foodies

Tasteful decor - almost intimate. Inventive and contemporary menu. Attentive and professional service from Carrie. The best coffee we have had in the USA after many many visits struggling to find a decent espresso style coffee.

Our hotel concierge was one of several trustworthy sources recommending Sacks as a restaurant that could be depended upon to provide us with a memorable dinner on our last night in Anchorage. We were hit with a 6.+ earthquake while in the hotel changing for dinner. While our shaken nerves couldn't have added to our evening, nothing could have made... More

We had dinner at Sacks our last night in Anchorage. The cafe came highly recommended. I ordered a poached pear, goat cheese, candied pecans mixed greens salad that was fabulous. My friend's soup was also very good. The disappointment came when we ordered the pork loin dinner. While very tasty and a generous portion, the pork loin was tough and... More

Had breakfast there while we were waiting for zoo bus as this was not far from information centre. Simple breakfast - 2 eggs with reindeer sausage was good but Huevos Rancheros- corn tortillas with eggs was a bit too heavy for breakfast. But overall service was good, price was good and nice and handy place.

Unfortunately, I will probably never eat halibut outside of Alaska again, thanks to Sacks. It was so amazing that I think it almost a crime to let halibut be prepared any other place. Although from the outside the restaurant is fairly unprepossessing, once seated and confronted with food it becomes a true garden of earthly delights. A truly great experience.... More

Stopped in for brunch. Great food, service and ambience. Walking by the night before we stopped to check out the menu and someone walking by told us the food was great so we figured we would try Glad we did!

Our party of three diners was delighted to find Sacks Café in downtown Anchorage on June 18, 2015. We wanted to stay away from the large eateries geared to groups of tourists staying in downtown Anchorage hotels. Sacks Café was everything we wanted it to be - our entrees were inventive and delicious, the décor was attractive, service was excellent... More

We were looking for breakfast downtown on a Friday morning after finding the wait for Snow City Cafe was 1.5 hours. Trip Advisor said this wasn't open until 11 but we happened to walk by and saw that it was (9-11 Mon-Fri for breakfast). We had reindeer sausage omelettes, French toast, and breakfast burrito. The French toast was only okay... More

Our tour group went here for our farewell dinner, and many of us ordered salmon upon recommendation of our leader. One order was returned because the salmon was not a normal color and too well-cooked. They did bring a better salmon order shortly afterward. In general, the salmon was well-prepared and delicious. Although there were 15 in our group, it... More
