Good but I don;t know about best

My first night in Anchorage, we went to the Wishbone from their "Best in Alaska" fried chicken. Now to be fair, I'm from Kentucky where fried chicken is world famous. This was very good, a flour and cornmeal coating, I would guess. It arrived quickly, hot and juice. The corn muffin was ok. The... read more

Ha ha ha, it's the only fried chicken in Alaska. But seriously folks it is damn good chicken! Hamburgers, onion rings and shakes are also excellent.

The place has some great chicken and burgers- may be the best in downtown. Also it add a flavor of history with beautiful pictures on the wall.

I decided to walk from my hotel to try the fried chicken that I kept hearing about, and it was definitely worth the walk. I visited on 4/17 around 7pm, it was very busy all the tables were taken, but I got seated in just a few minutes. I ordered the "mom" plate of chicken 3 pieces, side of coleslaw... More

We went here and tried the fried chicken, onion rings, french fries, and ice cream sundae. It was good. Reminded me of an old-school diner. Food was good, but we probably won't go again. We need a few more veggies in our life!

The Lucky Wishbone has been apart of Alaska for many years (started in the 60's I think) There is nothing fancy about the Lucky Wishbone, but if you like the Mom and Pop atmosphere and tender fried chicken this is the place. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. I order the all white meat Jr. Basket (two pieces with fries... More

Not a fancy place....just really good food. Homey, 50's style diner. A place were locals go. It hasn't changed for years, which is a good thing. Everything on the menu is great. Take out chicken is the best.

The Lucky Wishbone restaurant is a staple restaurant in Anchorage having serving great food for over 50 years! The Lucky Wishbone specializes in pan fried chicken but also serves up burger, a variety of sandwiches, fries and old-fashioned milkshakes. On our visit we sampled a variety from the menu including burgers, fries, a corned beef sandwich, pan-fried chicken (and corn... More

The Lucky Wishbone is an Anchorage institution. If you want to visit a simple, down-home, 50s type place that is not overrun with tourists, this is your place. They specialize in fried chicken, but there are many other menu choices--salads, sandwiches, side dishes, soup, etc. The place is completely unpretentious, so if you're looking for a fancy meal and fancy...
