Our AirBnB hosts recommended this place to us our first night in Anchorage. We were hungry and exhausted and wanted something quick and filling. Would likely not have looked twice at this place had it not been recommended. Great chicken and cornbread and the shakes/malts are wonderful too. Left fully satisfied.

Fresh, never frozen, chicken fried absolutely perfectly - which is not any easy thing for a restaurant to do. If the oil is not the right temperature and recently filtered you get the greasy mess most places serve. Not here. If you've never had proper fried chicken you owe it to yourself to try the Wishbone. The grilled sandwiches are... More

I enjoyed my chicken here, yes. Other posters are correct, excellent chicken and excellent shakes. I liked their corn bread and I enjoyed their fries. Nevertheless- I think their prices are a dollar or two too high in general for everything. Almost $5 for a shake? Atmosphere- not so much. The waitresses weren't very engaging and actually forgot one of... More

What a fun place. Original 1950's decor, in great shape, with excellent, not at all greasy, fried chicken and fries. The coleslaw is also good, and the blueberry milkshake is pure heaven. Cheerful, quick service, too.

is what I was told. The restaurant looks like a 60s diner and has been in Anchorage since November 1955. It was very good. Not the best I've had, but it was good. I was told that they have fresh chickens flown in from the lower 48 every week. The chicken was moist and tasty. I also had a malt... More

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Anchorage. It is not fancy, but the food is great, the service is great, and the people are very friendly. They have the best milk shakes in town. My daughter loves the coffee milk shake and says it is the best she has ever had. Whenever our daughter and granddaughters... More

Went to an Anchorage icon restaurant to have the best fried chicken in town. This is an old diner and serves other items besides chicken. We sit down and see only three options, three, two and one pieces of chicken and select white or dark. I got one dark (leg) and one white (wing). Orders come very quick and see... More

I was a local for 16 years before leaving in 2006 and the first place I ate when returning was Lucky Wishbone. It is the best fried chicken anywhere! The service is always good and the food is simply done-right, 50s diner comfort food; burgers, fries, rings, chicken and shakes. If you are midfle- aged or older it will bring... More

Good simple diner food that tasted good! Had the halibut sandwich, chicken and dumpling soup and the fried onion rings. Place was busy but our wait was not that long. We were seated and given water immediately and then it took probably 13 minutes so before waitress came back to take our order. Once we placed our order, the food... More

I was told it was the restaurant in Anchorage where the “locals” go. If you like fried chicken, great hamburgers and the best milk shakes, this is the place. The 90 year old owner was even there to greet the large crowd. If you go, you need to try a milk shake as no one in the lower States can... More
