Traditional Japanese

Right downtown, nice atmosphere. Wide selection of sushi, plus other options like tempura. Nice choices of saki. Pleasant service. Short walk to PAC.

Kumagoro is our all-time favorite Japanese restaurant outside of Japan! We have yet to find another place in Alaska or in the lower 48 that is as fresh and authentic. Every time we visit Alaska (every two years or so) we make sure to stop by Kumagoro for lunch. They are a little pricey (but Japanese food usually is). We... More

I was feeling somewhat weighed down by American food until I discovered Kumagoro. A Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people was a welcome discovery. The food was very fresh and I felt almost as if I was back in Japan.

Looks like a tourist trap, between tourist gift shops and tour operators, but it is quite good and reasonable priced. The Bento boxes are good.

Menu is similar to Japanese restaurants in the US. Not exceptional but satisfying and fulfulling. Clean environment and friendly servers.

I like the fact that I walk into a Sushi place and immediately see a full house both locals. Service was good, but the 2 girls were running around trying to keep up with everything. The Gyoza is made fresh each day, and tasted really good. Portions were pretty good size. Wife had seaweed salad and said it was good,... More

My husband and I ate dinner here on the 4th of July. The portions were huge! After reading a review that the sushi was expensive for the size, I was pleasantly surprised. I have never had rolls that big before. We ordered way too much food for the two of us. We ordered the king salmon box dinner, the gyoza,... More

Tried the King Crab leg. Not as even close to the Ray's restaurant in Seward. Seems over cocked and hard to chew. Not very fresh either. Not recommended. Over priced.

There were four adults and three toddlers in out party. Needless to say our babes made a HUGE mess. We tried to clean up all the rice but the wait staff wouldn't hear of it. They were so friendly and accommodating. We did leave a 25% tip to pay for the "damages." Food was very good.
