This place is quaint

We have eaten here on several occasions it's a nice small little restaurant that isn't super noisy with really good food. The service is great and on the occasion that you bring your children they try really hard to accommodate their needs even though it isn't really a kid type restaurant. When my... read more

We've walked by this small restaurant on Queen Anne Hill many times during the dinner hour and noted that it was always full with what appeared to be contented diners. I often said, "We must return and eat here." But something always seemed to prevent us from going back. This month's Seattle Restaurant Week (3 courses for $28 at myriad... More

Portage on Queen Anne Hill is a very small intimate restaurant. It is also very good and fairly reasonable for it's type. I felt the service was very friendly and attentive. They really make an effort to cook things the way you will like and will redo something if is not. I would definitely go back.

We just arrived home from a weekend in Seattle. A friend recommended this restaurant and we were so happy that we took their advise to eat there on Saturday evening. The restaurant offers a tasting menu which we selected along with a wine pairing for each dish. Some of the dishes we likely would not have selected if just ordering... More

If I lived in Seattle I'd be a regular here. It is small, local, easily accessible, and terrific. It wouldn't take much to have "client status" I imagine, and the rewards would be worthwhile. I always enjoy dining where I'm treated as an old friend or valued customer. Our middle son and his wife live on Queen Anne Hill, so... More

The place is small. On a Saturday night we were seated at one of the 2-person window tables. The only problem was that whenever the door opened the chill wind made the table drafty. Too bad they don't have a vestibule with heavy drapes like any other Seattle restaurants. Dinner got off to a great start. My wife had the... More

Chicken, gnocchi and a beet salad that are excellent. Service is wonderful, there when you need it, absent when your mouth is full. The restaurant is small (not a bad thing) but has a varied and reasonably priced wine list. Portion size is not huge but you leave full. My only negative comment is regarding the temperature in the restaurant.... More

We found Portage through restaurants.com. Had some certificates to use and were taking a trip to Seattle for my husband's b-day. Our hotel was a few miles away and this neighborhood is very hilly so we took a taxi to/from. It was a rainy night and it wasn't too busy at 8pm. We sat in the window up front and... More

4 of us had an excellent meal last night. One ordered the price fixed, chef's choice 4 course meal for $45. The other three had wonderful, intense bouillabaisse for 26$ each, filled with pieces of salmon, scallops, clams and octopus. The beet gratin salad for $9, while sort of expensive was lovely, set on lentils, and made of two brightly... More

Our dinner on 5-6-11 was excellent from start to finish. Our server was delightful. The wines by the glass were OK (Macon Chardonnay and the cab franc were best) and we got to sample before ordering. Wine list is small but quite varied and priced well. Asparagus salad was imaginative; beet gratin was sinfully good; lamb sirloin was cooked rare... More
