There are two doors. I was by myself. I walked in, and waited by the door to be seated. Several employees passed me, some several times, and just kept walking. After a few minutes I thought maybe it was like a tavern, I should just go in and sit down, so I did. Again, I was ignored. There was no... More

I started off with their Rum Punch specialty drink which was delicious. Then my main course was Pernil Pastelon. I loved all the island flavors mixed with the sweet plantains. The portion size was perfect. I should have gotten a dessert but I'll save that for next time.

You can sit outside in the summer and watch the Ballardites go by. Very good food. Nice people. The food is tasty.

Great food, perfect place to branch out in Seattle. Great drinks as well. When the restaraunt gets busy service can suffer, but we still keep coming back. The sweet plantain are the best, as a side or in an y dish.

It is hard to find a local and reasonable neighborhood restaurant in Ballard these days. After walking into two or three in which we felt like we had stumbled into an L.A. singles bar, my friend and I saw La Isla. Families were walking out smiling. We looked inside and the homey Latin atmosphere welcomed us. I had the garlic... More

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but have been living in the States for the past 2 years. Couldn't have been more excited to know there was a PR restaurant in Seattle when I visited WA for Thanksgiving. Everything was delicious (and very authentic)! The rice, the beans, the tostones, but especially, the pastelon...to die for! We also... More

This is incredibly good Puerto Rican fare. Excellent plaintains and the dishes are creative and well prepared. The noise level almost made it seem good to be on a street with the car exhaust. The wait staff are excellent. Almost anything on the menu would be good here. If you are young and hip this is the place. If you... More

I live in Colorado and wish that there was a restaurant that compared to La Isla. Each time I visit Ballard, I eat there at least twice during my visit. Beans and rice, Lentil Stew, Yucca Frittes, and Tostones are my faves. Sit outside and people watch too.

I have lived in Puerto Rico my whole life and the plate I was served was truly comida criolla. They definitely got it right. The beans were amazing and so was the biftec encebollado. Not to mention the tostones and mojito sauce. The best comida criolla dinner I have had in a long time. Congratulations to the chef.
