Good Caribbean food

Not bad, not bad at all. Flavorful food, nice seating inside and out, decent service. Yes, the people watching is good too, the hipstahs ate a hoot and watching people parallel park is even better. Pretty good choice if you're looking for a taste of the Caribbean.

This place is still a pretty-well kept secret, so get there while you can before it gets too busy. The happy hour menu is well-priced with fair portions. I shared the Ropa Vieja with my friend (after having appies) and couldn't walk straight afterwards because I was so full. Be careful about the drinks though, all of ours were STRONG.

Was looking forward to going, after hearing rave reviews from friends about the Redmond location. I grew up in New York, have Puerto Rican friends (who fed me well) as well as experienced in eating the food in New York, as well as a recent trip to San Juan. Service: Slow, was not a busy night, but it took a... More

This Puerto Rican restaurant is possible to miss in all the crowd. Don't pass it by. They have a well stocked bar and can produce 70 rums according to the menu. The friendly cheerful staff were not put off one second by some exotic requests for unusual rums that I know of. They obviously enjoy working there. The food is... More

If you go to La Isla, it is obligatory to order a Velvet Mojito. Now, I am well-versed in the art of Mojito drinking and this Mojito is the best one I've had in all my travels around the world. What distinguishes it from others is that they use tamarind (which gives it a milky brown look) and coconut. It... More

Had a late lunch at La Isla after a visit to the Ballard Locks. Food was totally delicious and perfectly prepared. We sat outside and got to watch the eclectic street scene pass by as we enjoyed our yummy lunch. Margarita's were very tasty and the three milk cake was awesome - although incredibly large.

There are two doors. I was by myself. I walked in, and waited by the door to be seated. Several employees passed me, some several times, and just kept walking. After a few minutes I thought maybe it was like a tavern, I should just go in and sit down, so I did. Again, I was ignored. There was no... More

I started off with their Rum Punch specialty drink which was delicious. Then my main course was Pernil Pastelon. I loved all the island flavors mixed with the sweet plantains. The portion size was perfect. I should have gotten a dessert but I'll save that for next time.

Great food, perfect place to branch out in Seattle. Great drinks as well. When the restaraunt gets busy service can suffer, but we still keep coming back. The sweet plantain are the best, as a side or in an y dish.
