We are a downtown gathering place, where soul-satisfying foods radiate with the intense flavors of seasonal ingredients from our favorite local farmers and producers. Executive chef, Craig Hetherington, can make tomato soup with griddled cheese sandwich seem just as refined as his Dungeness crab tagliatelle. Pastry chef Will Fausser explores variations on classic desserts such as Theo chocolate cake with marshmallow topping and graham cracker ice cream and milk and cookies. A choice of large or small plates makes exploring and sharing the menu a breeze. Our wines come exclusively from the Northwest and are priced to purchase by the glass or bottle. Our beers are also brewed here in the Northwest. We are located at the Seattle Art Museum, which is a block away from the main entrance of Pike Place Market and a short walk from the downtown shopping district.

Tasty indeed!

We had read reviews placing this cafe in the forefront of area places for a bite to eat. since we were wrapping up a few hours in the SAM and didn't want to dodge crowds in the Pike Place Market, this was a definite plus! Food was great. Portions as expected and prices average for the area... read more

The food I'd good but very expensive for the portions and the service is slow. Also, the hostess at the front counter was rather dismissive on the several times I have visited with friends.

Most people fail to notice that many museums provide a useful location for reasonably priced food without setting foot in the actual museum. This often includes fast service and menus that cover any special requests (vegan, gluten free etc). In Seattle's case, Taste has both a bar/counter area and regular tables and unlike some museums, takes reservations on Open Table.... More

After thre hours of the SAM we had a great lunch. Recommend the small plates with lots of "tastes," the fries and deviled eggs...YUM!

Intrigued by the numerous positive reviews, hubby and I decided to have a late lunch here after doing a Theo's chocolate factory tour (an absolute must-do!) followed by a few hours exploring SAM. The restaurant closes at 5 p.m. on Saturday, but it's definitely worth carving out time for a meal at this delightful bistro. The decor is trendy but... More

A return visit - Charcuterie Plate for me -fantastic! I couldn't finish it and I can eat a lot. Order it - you won't be disappointed. My wife had Tagliatelle with Chanterelles and (I think) bacon. It was soooo good. You could taste every ingredient. If they have it available on our next visit I WILL order it. The star... More

The first place I ate in Seattle and possibly the best, the food was modern but ample, classics with a twist and done well. it was so good we went back a week later.

This is much more than a typical museum cafe! It's a restaurant worth visiting even if you don't enter SAM. The menu here is not large, but the food is prepared with care and excites the senses. We've been there for lunch and dinner several times, and never disappointed. Even occasionally delighted.

We scored a triple here during lunch on an early Sunday afternoon. First, the food proved to be superb. I had smoked salmon on flat bread ($14) with red onions, capers, creme fraiche and lots of fresh lettuce. It was absolutely delicious and such a large portion that the dish could have served two people. One of our dining companions... More

We took our granddaughter here for lunch before touring museum. She loved being in a "fancy" restaurant. Service was excellent, and friendly. We were glad we went.
