Good Dim Sum

House of Hong is a huge restaurant in the Inernational District of Seattle. A real plus is that it has free parking. The dim sum is very good, but not the best that I have had. Carts take a while to get to you and when they do, the food is occasionally cool. The shu Mai is good, as are... read more

I ate here with a group of friends, and we were all pleased with our meals. The portions are huge, so my suggestion is to have each person order something different and eat family-style. That's what we did, and the spinning tables helped facilitate sharing. The almond fried chicken and my-shu pork were my favorites.

Since taking a job near the International District, I have been sampling restaurants in the area for lunch meetings. I remembered House of Hong from a long time ago when I had some favorable experiences. For my lunch meeting purposes I need unobtrusive service, relative quiet, available parking, and interesting food. House of Hong is wide open for weekday lunch.... More

It seems like the House of Hong is tired. There is no originality, no charm, no effort to please...beyond the ordinary. Dim sum should be a continual surprise of treats. Every wheeled cart should bring you something special. That just didn't happen here.

I regret eating here, not a good dim sum experience. The big problem was the food no dishes I tried were good. There are lots of choices in the international district, don't make my mistake, try elsewhere.

I have been eating here off and on for 20+ years and it was always very good to great, but something has changed in the last visits. The restaurant which has always been very busy was almost empty, with plenty of parking (unheard of!) The food is good now, not great. Service was OK and of course prices are higher.... More

The food is awesome. The international district is a good place to start when looking for foreign foods and this place did not disappoint. One thing though, the servers did not speak English which was perfectly fine with me but if you need to know what is in your food or what the price of each thing is, this place... More

We went to House of Hong and were very disappointed as it used to be our favorite place for dim sum. We tried at least 6-7 dim sum dishes and all were bland or tasted odd. They need to get back to their original recipes and become a top best dim sum place once again. We may try it in... More

We have been to this restaurant many times since the 1980's. We were taking our son for Dim Sum since he had never been to this restaurant. We were excited because we had always enjoyed the food and the service. We walked in through the front door and it smelled like urine. Since this was close to the bathroom I... More

When flying to Seattle i sat next to a Chinese man, Chris. (not his real name) asked him where is a good place to get Dim Sum in Seattle. He highly recommend "House of Hong" He did say when a Chinese place is empty, the food has been sitting for a long time and there is no turn over. (he... More
