A great location on Pier 54 on Alaskan Way not far from Pike Market and close to ferries. Seems to be a tourist stop. We stopped for lunch prior to boarding ferry to Bainbridge Island. Our service was slow and not all that friendly. My wife had clam chowder and I had fish and chips. We thought the food was... More

While staying in Seattle for a few days we stopped at Ivars restaurant when the happy hour was on, the restaurant was busy, the staff are very friendly, and a lovely view from the restaurant over looking the waterfront, the chowder was excellent followed by the fish and chips, for desert the crème brulee was great, we had a lovely... Being from Louisiana it is hard to impress us with seafood but there is a certain basic level of quality. We went here after walking in Elliot's and being overwhelmed with the smell and 1 hr wait. The salmon chowder was good as well as the king salmon. The rest was not. The oysters had a fishy taste and were... More

Ivar's is one of my favorite places for a hearty seafood meal when I'm in Seattle. As a kid in the early 70's my Mom use to take us to Seattle for weekend trips and Ivar's where we always asked to go for supper. 40 years later and numerous trips to Seattle and Ivar's I have never had a disappointing... Located right on the waterfront, this place is huge and definitely caters to the tourist market with a ocean theme restaurant that has been in business for a very long time. They are known for letting people throw their french fries to the seagulls outside (very fat seagulls). The food is ok. We ordered two fish and chips which were... More

Should have left within the first 10 minutes of arriving but stuck it out. Not worth it! First we had booked a table for anniversary and we arrived early. Told to wait while they got our table ready. As we were being seated they took us to a table by the wall and I asked 'what about a window seat'?... More

I thought that a seafood restaurant would know how to properly cook fish, but I was mistaken. The fish was overcooked and the rest of the meal was unremarkable. Service was spotty at best, typical of tourist trap. They know that you probably will not be back again, so why put themselves out was the attitude I got.

Returned for a regular visit to Seattle for another long-weekend getaway, this time with my adult daughter. As always we had a great time and since we both love clams could not miss a visit to Ivar's, after all they've acres of clams. I am glad to report they've one less acre. What a great time we had, seating was... More

My boyfriend and I ate dinner at Ivar's (inside the restaurant) one evening. I had the salmon with masked Yukon potatoes and a tomato/cucumber salad. The salmon was tasty, the potatoes tasted home made, and the tomato/cucumber salad was delicious and a big portion. He had the tasty clam chowder, and the fish and chips, which he really enjoyed. Nice... More

This is the original Ivar's - A Seattle institution. Located along all the touristy attractions on the Alaskan Viaduct, it is a welcome respite from all the street side clamor. You pay just a little more for some of the same fare sold at Ivar's walk up spots but the ambience, a more thorough menu, and an amazing view of... More
