Good food and great view of Lake Union and the city- we watched sailboats and kayakers with the skyline in the background. Food was great overall.

First complaint was the extreme heat inside the restaurant. For obvious reasons, this restaurant does not have air conditioning but it also does not have any kind of ceiling fan system nor windows that open. The problem is when it's over 80 outside, it's closer to 90 inside. There was no air circulation. The food was "ok", not nearly as... More

Yes, it's touristy, big, crowded, you get paper placemats and the best fist is somewhat expensive. But this Seattle landmark on the water is something people need to go to once. We found the service efficient and friendly, attentive to a small child, and a seat by the window providing a view of the boats going by. Drinks were generous,... More

I lived in Seattle for 30 years. During that time I visited all of the Ivars locations and I was never disappointed. This latest trip in June was no exception. We ate at the Ivars on the north end of Lake Union out on the back patio - a location I had never experienced. I had eaten at this location... More

This is probably one of the more touristy places outside of downtown. The staff was friendly and the views interesting and fun. The deck was inviting, but quite noisy from vehicle noise on the nearby highway bridge. We visited in the summer and activity in the water was frenetic, but fun to watch.

As a local, I sometimes think of Ivar's for just their fish & chips & lump it in with the things you do with out of town visitors and I forget just how good the food at Ivar's Salmon House is. They know salmon. And crab and halibut. Alder planked or grilled, served with lovely, light sauces, they know how... More

This is my fav place in Seattle! Fish is great (not only the salmon!), the view on Lake Union and downtown is always amazing (perfect for introducing visitors to the city!) and the wooden decorations of the interiors very pretty. I simply love it, and I make sure to bring here all the people who are visiting me in Seattle!

Ivar's Salmon House is a remarkable fusion of art, history and food. While the North Coast art and history remain intact, the culinary values are slipping fast away. There are few things better in life than a well-prepared, alder-roasted salmon and for years Ivar's was renowned for its superbly preparing this dish. Not anymore. The salmon was disappointing and, far... More

Disappointed. The view was fabulous but the overall experience was not great. It was 85 degrees outside and because of the open kitchen plan, it felt at least 85 degrees in the restaurant. The restaurant does not have air conditioning, which is fine but, the windows do not open and there were no fans. It was too hot to order... More
