Our first stop visiting Seattle as a family is ALWAYS Pecos Pit. It was love at first bite in 1994. Two consecutive summers, 2001 and 2002, we were guests aboard two different aircraft carriers for SeaFair. After we disembarked, we walked straight to Pecos Pit. Folks come from 20 miles away to make a "Pit Run" for lunch here. The beef is consistently good, but I prefer the pork because it tames the heat of the "Hot" sauce (about 4 star on a Thai scale). The beans are tasty too, not quite as hot as the "Medium" sauce (3 star), with nice chunks of ham... more

Pecos Pit has a very simple menu and presentation, and they execute it flawlessly: They serve sandwiches.... Your choice of meat: Pork or Beef Your choice of cut: Sliced or "Pecos" (pulled/shredded) Your choice of sauce: mild (never tried), medium (pretty spicy), hot (scared to try). Peco's Pit has the best BBQ in Seattle. Be warned that "hot" really means hot. On nice days there's a long line around noon, but it moves pretty quickly. There's no indoor seating, only picnic tables. You can also get your pulled pork BBQ sandwich spiked with a sausage. more
