New Lark is not Old Lark, a tale of two restaurants....

I ate at the original Lark twice. Both times it was marvelous. The small plates and small setting were a perfect compliment. Last night we went to the "new" Lark. It took ten minutes before the host was available to seat us and it was an hour from the time we arrived to the time we were... read more

small portions...expensive.. No wine for less than $50... $5 for 4 small slices of bread.. The service was good but the food was not. We will not be returning to Lark.

We went to Lark based on good reviews and high praise in Seattle Magazine and other places. Found it disappointing. The menu looked good; but the dishes served were small and uninspired. Duck confit was overcooked; abalone pasta was tepid and tasteless; several dishes had the same salad as a base. Desserts were just OK. Price was quite high for... More

Perhaps my expectations were too high. I had looked forward to dining at Lark after reading a glowing recommendation by Seattle Magazine. The bread was delicious, with tang and texture. The seared foie gras appetizer was succulent and also delicious, with a nice blend of umami and salt. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. The salads were okay but nothing... More

I usually do my homework before trying a new restaurant especially for valentines so I felt pretty confident that this was going to be great. I was wrong. I know that Valentines is a busy night but you either need to staff for it or cut the reservations you cant charge $300 per couple for average food and service. Wait... More

When we travel, our entertainment is food and beverage. Of course we know a little about the industry (actually a lot). I read the reviews on Open Table and from the forum I posted on Trip Advisor and I was not disappointed at all. We made reservations a bit late so make reservations early because they will fill up. We... More

Was looking forward to dinner at Lark after a 5-mile hike in the wet & wild Cascades (what else?) and it met up with my trail fantasies beautifully. Lovely interior space, dark but atmospheric with bright pinpoint lights hung from the ceiling. Started with a sparkling rum- based cocktail and then unbelievable fois gras. Best I've ever had with crisp... More

We came here for drinks and a light dinner. The new digs are very upscale and modern. Lots of wood, metal, a little on the dark side, sparking lights and an upstairs and main floor. The main floor is more formal. We were pleased to see a large parking lot across the way, (paid lot, of course) and we actually... More

John Sundstrom has worked at some top kitchens in Seattle before being selected for the Food and Wine Magazine Best New Chef class of 2001 (while at Earth and Ocean). After opening Lark he won James Beard Best Chef, NW (2007). We have eaten at Lark a number of times at his prior location and were excited to try the... More

This new version of Lark, located off Madison, just north if the IHOP, is outstanding. The design of the restaurant is lovely. Coming in from the dark and rain, it was warm, nicely lit, lovely, and sparkling. The booths (although a little tight in leg room) provide great acoustics for good conversation. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The... More
