After reading the many highly positive reviews of La Carta de Oaxaca, we happily stood in line outside the small but incredibly popular restaurant in the heart of Ballard. We loved the idea (and the reality) of the community tables, the exposed kitchen, the hustle and bustle of the place. The food was a significant disappointment. The food is incredibly... more

Sometimes, it can be cold when brought out and at other times not as spicy. It probably all depends on the cook. Hate - the community tables and small... more

This place is small, and likely gets very busy. The food is really good and the drinks are strong. They have an extended salsa bar. Chips with guacamole are $5 and are worth getting (basket is probably enough for 3-4 people). Tamatillo sauce is great. Photos on the wall are cool. more

Wow, I saw that this was rated well, but I had no idea! The Mole (#18) Was incredible! I also tried the carne asada (#11) which was very authentic. The place was packed, even @ 8:30pm on a Monday, but well worth the wait. Service is a little bit slow, but once again, completely worth the wait. The barbecue Pork... more
