What a delightful surprise! I went to Kingfish primarily because it was close to a concert venue and the idea of southern food sounded good. My expectations, given this is the Pacific Northwest, were not high. What I found was some of the best southern cooking I've had in many years and I've lived in Alabama and Texas for over... More

Kingfish is one of those places that you can call a treasure. Seattle is a great food scene, but Southern comfort food is somewhat limited. We usually go for lunch, and mostly order the friend chicken salad, with an order of corn bread on the side. Doubtful you have ever had the dish prepared this way. It involves a "dressed... More

This is one of my "go to" restaurants whenever I'm in the area or whenever I have friends in town. The waiters are always very friendly and attentive to our needs. The menu is wonderful and offers everything you could ask for in a soul food/southern restaurant. They often add specials depending on the season (their strawberry shortcake in the... More

Located about 15 minutes away from the downtown Seattle area. I was curious to give this restaurant a chance for being owned by retired NBA basketball player Gary Payton after reading an article about former athletes restaurants to try. The restaurant was a slight challenge to locate. Didn't recall neon lights to spot restaurant driving in a residential neighborhood. Parking... More

I really was set to love this place: I reviewed the menu online, loving the descriptions and attitude. And, I had heard good things from several people. I was set to go! Our party of four arrived at 8 pm on a Frida night, waited a bit for a seat, which was fine as we did not have reservations (note:... More

This is the third time I have been to the restaurant and this visit was disappointing. The meal was just so so and the restaurant was uncomfortable due to being too warm. I had the chicken salad and the chicken was good but the salad not so much...it was overdressed and the yams cold with little flavor. One of my... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my T's Sweet Tea Pork Chops in Molasses & Cherry BBQ Sauce. Then finished off with a wonderful dessert. Three couples and we all shared our different sides, all of which were very good even though I am not a fan of collard greens, these were good. This is another of Seattle's neighborhood gems.

Started off with a Mint Julep on a warm summer evening, and it was refreshing - I have definitely had better drinks, but on a relatively hot evening, the drink added to the interesting ambience. We were a party of 4 - the corn bread was delicious and I ordered shrimp and grits, which was very filling and good. It... More

My friend had been to this place before and so we went. It is a funky place which is great but it was a bit warm. I had a drink called an Evangeline, and I like cocktails but I have had much better medications and could not finish it! I had the gussied up liver and onions which I enjoyed... More

I was anticipating a great meal and good service. I got neither. Perhaps it was a bad night. The service was slow and not attentive (other than the bus boy). We were a party of four adults, not one if us could eat the cornbread or sides! The collard greens were stiff & chewy. The potato salad and coleslaw had... More
