I visited Il Fornaio twice on a recent trip to Seattle. Every dish I tried was very tasty. The service was perfect in both of my visits. It has a family-friendly (and adult-friendly) atmosphere with reasonable prices. I wasn't familiar with it, but it appears from some cities listed in the window that it is part of a chain. I really like their margherita pizza, if you ever in need of food in downtown stop by there. Make sure you eat inside the restaurant that is on the lower lever (right off of 5th ave) more

Decent Italian food but too much of a large chain feel. The entrees are hit and miss, but the bread basket is a winner. Kid-friendly. If you go, buy a loaf of ciabatta to go. I and other italian PhD students were in Seattle for a conference in June '08, and everybody enjoyed "Il Fornaio" in downtown Seattle. This is one of the few places in the USA were I ate good italian food: I especially appreciated their "risotto", and their Pinot Grigio was also fairly good.
