I must admit, the meatball sandwich was pretty amazing. The meatballs were so huge that every bite I took, the meatball shoved into my nose or my cheek. The mufelletta was pretty dissappointing- I am a bit muffalletta fan, but on this one, there was so much bread and so little olive salad that it just was dry and bready.... more

I've recently had muffalettas at the famous Central Grocery in New Orleans, at Donald Link's new sandwich shop Butcher, also in New Orleans and at Salumi in Seattle. Salumi wins hands down. Just wish I'd been in Seattle longer so I could have gone back. Yes, you will wait in line, especially at lunch hour. Is it worth it? Absolutely! more

A celebrity-chef's sideshow struggling to be a hole-in-the wall ad not really succeeding at either. The faux-edgy, faux-attitude, faux-GRRRRL attitude of the counter staff (on at least three occassions they delighted in telling patrons "Mario who?" in response to queries about the restaurant's famous owner) is just annoying in the extreme.
