We eat a lot of Indian food and found this place while wandering in the University District. Great (huge) naan, friendly employees. Nice variety.

My son took my husband and me to Shalimar's so we could taste "authentic" Indian food. He doesn't like the thought that I eat Trader Joe's frozen offerings and actually think they are good - which they are! He ordered for us - Chicken Tikka Masal (my personal favorite!); Chicken Curry; and Chicken Saag, along with naan - a bit... More

If you like Indian/Pakistani food, go here. It's an attractive restaurant on "the Ave." The quality of the food is excellent, and the sauces are special. They also understand the American hesitation about spices and heat and easily figure out what you want.

The owner is very good and he is always there for you! He even made a special chaat for us, without us asking. It was so good! i love the experience, the staff and the food. Their cholla bhatoora and tandori chicken is the best.

We have eaten here three times and three times it's been exceptional. They have a garlic nan bread that I especially enjoyed..very good service...I just ask the servers' advice and feast. Meats and sauces...curries...All awesome.

Found this restaurant via Groupon and we are sure glad we did! Visited for lunch and this place must be popular with the local populace as it was busy. Service was quick and efficient without being cold. Food came out piping hot and flavourful. Price is a bit high without the discount but we will be back inspire of that.... More

We had eaten at Shalimar in its old (smaller) location down the block some years ago. We were delighted that in the new location the food was every bit as good as we remembered, perhaps even better. We ordered two things: the "signature" entree Chicken Jaipuri, and Tandoori Chicken. Either one would have been enough for the two of us... More

Great find. Packed on a Thursday night. Tried the Pakistani curry. It was very good. Would have got stars but was charged $4.99 for a dipping size side of raita. All other prices were reasonable.

Shalimar was at a different, smaller location a block away from where it is now, when I first found it in 1993. It was a bit cramped, but the food was almost intoxicating, the wine quite nice, and the service friendly (though, maybe due to culture, they had a maddening tendency to refer every question to my husband!). We live... More
