Seattle's Best Pizza

Opened in 1954, Northlake, which is near the University of Washington campus, has a publike atmosphere. What great pizza! The toppings are more than generous; they cover the entire pie. The sauce is flavorful and rich. The cheese is excellent. My only quibble would be the crust---a little crispy... read more

Pizza here is excellent! Pies are always thick and loaded with terrific high quality toppings. Great tavern atmosphere and we always come to catch the dawgs games. If you want the best pizza in Seattle - this is the place!

Northlake Tavern is a unique place. The walls are covered with David Horsey's drawings (local cartoonist that began drawing for the UW Daily, then the Seattle P-I and now for the L A Times), there are no windows because it is located under the I-5 freeway bridge so it would not matter, but the pizza is FABULOUS! NLT also offers... More

I first came here in the mid-80's and it really has not changed. I know there is a new owner, and he was smart in maintaining the original formula. The other positive reviews are enough, I don't need to expand. Except to say this is not pizza in the classic sense of the term. These pies are thick, and most... More

So this is not a Chicago, New York or...well...really not a classifiable pizza joint. Northlake pizza (Herb's as us old timers remember it)is unique. The crust is thick and chewy...and the toppings always fresh and...enormous. Having downed many pizzas here over the last 40 years or so, be assured the taste and quality have never wavered. The beer flows nicely... More

I've always heard how good Northlake Tavern pizza was and I finally got to experience it myself - let me just say that, "I was NOT disappointed!" The pizza is excellent and worth the trip, via car or boat. The atmosphere has that old tavern charm. I found the staff and other patrons very friendly. Give it a try -... More

We had to wait for our youngest to turn 21 before we could visit this classic spot from our college days as a family, so guess where we went for his 21st birthday? Extraordinary pizza! We had the large combo with salami added - $40, but over 6 pounds of cheesy, meaty delight was more than enough to feed four... More

When this place opened, Seattle was a blue collar town, Ballard was still the southernmost city in Alaska (Alaska Outport Shipping 's Seattle terminal was across the street) , and all Seattle taverns looked more or less like the inside of this place. Northlake Tavern made a name for itself by combining deep dish Chicago pizza with its New York... More

Northlake really does have the best pizza in Seattle. My grandmother took my mother there when she was a kid, and now she takes her grand kids there (actually kids are not allowed in the restaurant so we get take out). The crust is thick but not nasty ( I love thin crust pizza), and the pepperoni are not like... More

A great pizza and beer combo place. There pizzas are unique, as far as pizzas go anyway, and quite fulfilling.
