Located in what was once a Russian tea room—complete with elegant murals illustration a Pushkin story—this cozy, Spanish-inflected restaurant stayed open for us (we'd make late-dinner reservations to follow an evening event nearby) and graciously offered an elegant menu as well as some remarkable chef daily specials. My favorite was the duo of goat (braised and as a housemade chorizo),... More

Lovely gem of a space. Well prepared, creative food. Good service. We've gone back many times and the menu always changes, but the food is uniformly excellent.

We had high expectations based on past reviews and recommendations. Unfortunately, we came away very disappointed. The food was delicious -- when it finally came, but the service was deplorable. I read another reviewer's comments about Melanie and I'm afraid I must echo them. We will definitely not be returning.

My husband and I have been to Olivar dozens of times in the 5 years we have lived in Seattle. They use to have an amazing amazing brunch and we would come at least once a month for it (didn't hurt that at the time we lived a block away). They got rid of brunch and we moved 6 blocks... More

Olivar has slowly become our families favorite restaurant. My daughter goes to school on Capital Hill and we were becoming tired of our usual restaurants as this is her third year. We stumbled upon Olivar and immediately fell in love with the intimate and cozy home environment. Soon after our first visit we came back again for my wifes birthday... More

We reserved a table at Olivar's with a friendly and entertaining gentleman. Five of us decided to go to this place during Seattle's restaurant week, where a three-course dinner is available for $28 ($30 a Olivar's.) We did not get off to a good start as we could not find parking. We eventually ponied up $10.99 for a parking garage... More

We enjoyed a wonderful meal that lived up to the positive feedback we had heard. Located in a gorgeous, landmarked building, the space is lovely and romantic. Our waiter was knowledgeable, easy to talk with and made good recommendations, especially of the wine. Food was perfect. I definitely recommend Olivar.

Our first time here (even though we've lived in the neighborhood for a few years), and it's a cozy little restaurant. This is not a vegetarian restaurant, but we managed to put together a very nice vegetarian dinner with the somewhat-limited vegetarian offerings. We started with an appetizer of heirloom tomatoes and bleu cheese crumbles - tomatoes were very flavorful,... More

The setting: original Russian Samovar restaurant designed in 1931 in Loveless Buolding, with the original Russian murals (restored), lead glass windows, tiled beams. The menu is Spanish. We shared a salad of arugula and shaved parmesan; a small plate of fresh grilled and marinated sardines on thinly sliced toast with tomato relish and avocado. We also shared a terrific paella... We went to Olivar for dinner tonight before a movie at the Harvard Exit, at least we tried to. We asked the person who seated us if we would have time to eat before the movie. She assured us we would. We asked the waiter and he also assured us we would and then confirmed with the kitchen that we... More
