Inexpensive formule lunch in Morlaix

There is no ambiance, and the decor is stark. But the chef is competent and takes pride in serving good food. I had king prawns, a duo of fish, and a chocolate fondant ,plus small carafe of white house wine for under £15

We went to lunch here and decided to try the moules and frites. Although we were the 3rd party to arrive we were almost the last to be served. We speak good french so there was no translation problem. You can only wait so patiently when every dish being served is walked right pass you. When approaching the waitress she... More

They have a sign listed their suppliers which I think is a good thing. It is fairly cheap/good value and the waitress was helpful. The food was clearly made on the premises and is probably based on Breton dishes but the place didn't really grab me. There was quite an emphasis on heavy, somewhat fatty meat. Perhaps I ordered the... More

Not much open in Morlaix on a Monday night, but this restaurant saved the day. Small family restaurant with local flavour and ingredients. Seemed to be run by two people. Lovely fish and steak dishes and homemade frites. Good price for three courses at €17.90 per person. The dessert of choice and we changed our original course having seen what... More

Ate here the night after trying a generic town centre joint - which was OK but uninspiring. Good sign when they tell you where the ingredients come from, and use local produce. Good rustic food, particularly the scallops and a great dish of meat and veg slowly cooked with a couscous - like grain that soaked up all the meat... More

A nice small restaurant with friendly staff. No fancy multi language menu's instead dishes for the day displayed on boards which are removed when sold out. This means to me you are getting fresh seasonal produce & the taste proves it. Hearty size portions full of flavour & a very good wine list. This is a super place to eat.

This is a resto you go to because you're hungry and you want a good-sized tasty meal without the gastro protocol dance. It does that perfectly, at the price you expect. Recommended.

Saturday lunch time (7th Dec 2013) we stumbled on this restaurant. Unpretentious, good food in a simple, relaxed atmosphere at very competetive prices. Friendly reception by a smiling waitress. Fairly limited choice but if you want fresh food in a small place this is inevitable. Food was excellent and great value, notably the queenies (= small scallops) in cream, cider... More

Le menu was good value and tasty, decent wine and attentive service, no problems. Local scallors were excellent as was my fish and tarte tatin. Pretty much what i expect in Brittany. Worth a visit.

Having read the other reviews of La marmite we were expecting good rustic homely cooking, how wrong we were! We stayed in Morlaix 6 nights & eat in a different place every night. We both had the fish dish, tasteless & full of bones served in an insipid orange coloured sauce accompanied by a brown/grey couscous ,tasteless. The service was... More
