Famous place with traditional danish cuisine

A Kro is like a tavern, inn or bistro - low key - not pretentious but honest food and great service. I have been here on numerous occasions and the food is always prepared excellently. You will not find fancy little dishes but well made dishes often with game, fish or traditional danish cuisine.

Located next to the famous Strandvejen, north of Copenhagen, this restaurant is worth a visit. Cosy surroundings, great food, very friendly and knowledgeable staff explaining the ingredients. Nice experience.

You have to know a thing or two about Danish restaurant culture to appreciate this place 100% Danish food is simple, consists of fresh raw materials, and is a combination of bread, vegetables, fish, cheese, etc. - at least for lunch. At this inn you are in a historic setting - af few hundred years older than the United States... More

We go to the kro often and usually have a good time but our recent visit last Friday promoted this review. The Christmas buffet at 315kr Per person was very expensive for what we got. We knew it would be crowded but the tables and chairs were so tightly packed that we had difficulty moving around. I will go back... More

The food here is not worth travelling for especially not as Skovshoved Hotel Restaurant next door serves gourmet food ( slightly more formal though ). But what Skovshoved Kro lacks in the kitchen it makes up for in atmosphere. The place is normally packed with locals and the place it self is really quite charming but go there for a... More

Chose the place as we wanted to bring a dog that day and it was no problem at all. Nice choice of traditional Danish lunch items and the food was prepared and arranged very well. Price level high, but that is the case almost everywhere in Denmark. Earlier we tried the restaurant to the right of the lunch restaurant and... More

This was not an unforgettable place, but we had a good time. We loved the atmosphere of this neighborhood(that's why we moved to Skovshoved) so take a walk before you eat. This is also a hotel. The food was nothing special, but not bad either. Good for groups.

The Danes are good at making things cozy. (Given that they have long dark winters, they should be!) Skovshoved Hotel's restaurant is perfect at this: the main dining room has a view of the garden but is warm inside during the winter. The food is superb. It's definitely Danish but also inventive; I'd say it's Michelin-quality. Service is very friendly... More

This restaurant is a great place to visit if you want to taste traditional Danish food. The place has a very nice atmosphere and is great if you want to experience the Danish "hygge" (cozy). I ordered roast pork with parsley sauce and potatoes which is a very traditional Danish meal. It was very tasty and the price of it... More
