Picked Ray's out of the blue after settling in at the municipal campground. Was allowed to sit and order at the bar. (There was a crowd waiting for tables.) Ordered a halibut-curry dinner which was outstanding! The fish melted in my mouth and the spice was not overpowering. Best meal so far in 5500 miles of driving! more

A great place for a meal while in Seward. We had dinner without a reservation which wasn't a big problem, even though they were pretty busy. Great view of the boat harbor. We had good service and good food. more

Ray's has to be the busiest restaurant in Seward. It's centrally located right on the small boat harbor (the hub for cruise ships, fishing charters, Kenai Fjords tours, etc.). Chinook's is two doors down, but it doesn't have the line out the door like Ray's. The whole experience is pleasantly familiar, like any busy waterfront seafood restaurant on a summer... more

Our B&B did not list this as their top but after trying several places we would. They said there were complaints about service mainly and maybe we were early in the tourist season but we had not problems. Food was very good. I had halibut in a spicy chili sauce and my wife had scallops. Both were very good. Nice... more

We had a bad experience at Chinook's so were prepared to be disappointed again. We were wrong - Ray's gave us an excellent meal (planked salmon) with great sides and a very nice salad. Great service and great views. Bypass Chinook's and go to Rays. more

Ray's in Seward is the best! The salmon was fresh, beautifully prepared and reasonably priced. The salmon was $24 and 1/2 pound crab legs was extra $8. At Chinooks we paid $37 for 1.5 pound crab that wasn't very good. That explains why there is a wait at Ray's but not at Chinook. I DO NOT Recommend Chinook. more

My husband and I ate here one evening in mid May. We had a great view of the harbor and enjoyed watching the activity. I had ordered salmon several times during our stay in Aklaska and was disappointed everytime. Our waitress assured me that their planked salmon was excellent and she was right. Finally some good Aklaskan salmon. The presentation... more

We dined here in August 2008. The flavor combos were not as good as other places we'd eaten at during our time in Alaska. The shrimp in our dishes were tough. Overall, the food was good though. more

I've been a local for more than twenty years, and Ray's is my favorite restaurant in Seward. I go at least once a week in the summers, and while it's a little pricier than it's neighbor, Chinook's, it's definitely worth it. I reccommend it to all of the tourists who ask me where to eat. Beautiful view of the harbor,... more

We live in Anchorage and this is our favorite seafood restaurant in Alaska. We make several trips to Seward each year with visitors just to eat here. The Blackened Halibut Cheeks in Gorgonzola sauce is to die for as well as the Calamari, the latter of which is better than the Glacier Brewhouse. Definitely pricey but not more than Anchorage. more
