We ate breakfast here and returned the next morning, driving from the small boat harbor area to do so. We particularly enjoyed the focus on a somewhat more healthy menu, with good omelet options and a nice selection of fresh fruit instead of hash browns. The coffee and water were free flowing. The tables by the windows in the bar... More

We tried this place because we were staying in the hotel and it was early. Food was nothing but average, but the service was the worst we experienced in Alaska. The waiter not only took over fifteen minutes to greet us and give us menus...and another ten to come back and take our order, but forgot our order and never... More

Mrs. Genes Place on Fifth Avenue is Seward, Alaska is one of our favorite Seward restaurants. First, the Hotel Seward is a re-modeled Victorian hotel, bar, and restaurant. The public place is great as well. Please do not visit Mrs. Genes Place for the plebian burgers and pizza. Tiny Seward has an abundance of burger and pizza joint . An... More

Hotel Seward have preserved and presented the history of of Seward for all patrons to enjoy. All that before enjoying the most amazing meal of seared Alaskan scallops on a bed of salad and the best risotto ever. My dining companions can give excellent reports also. What a shame we leave today.

Great variety on the menu but we wanted some burgers & sandwiches for dinner. So you have to ask for that menu specifically at dinner time. The pizza and burgers/sandwiches were all good. Cute place, very romantic and a really cool bar!

After a month of ordering a cup of seafood chowder at every restaurant, I vote Mrs. Gene’s seafood chowder the best in town! All places in Seward seem pricy, but the service is wonderful and the warm atmosphere feels like you’re eating at a close friend’s house.

As late-arriving & early-departing hotel guests, we ate dinner then breakfast at Mrs. Genes restaurant inside the Hotel Seward during the ‘shoulder season’ of early October 2013. The Victorian-themed bar and restaurant is quite small; and, the outdoor area too cool so closed. We chose dinner seating in a separate ‘Christmas’ themed room that seemed to be a converted older... My wife and I had dinner in early September. She had the prawn/scallop quinoa salad and I had the prawn/scallop spinach salad. Both of them were good and definitely provided plenty to eat. Neither were exceptional as the description sounded better than the end result. Not sure what was missing but they were a step up from bland. The dining... More

Food: The prices are comparable to bar food at all the other places we visited on our Alaska travels, but the food is a solid step above. We chose to have the cook bake (only option) our fresh fish we brought in from that days fishing trip and added a side of rice, however, both were a real disappointment as... More

We ate here for breakfast and dinner. Service was great, but we were the only customers....due to be late in the season. Food was good and reasonably priced....for Alaska. It's a small place inside the Hotel Seward I think there are additional dining rooms for the busy summer season. The hotel itself looks pretty cool, decorated in the original decor.... More
