My wife and I always sit at the sushi bar. We like watching the chef prepare the food. Many times the sushi chef gets so busy they do not look at the people at the bar. Not here, they are very attentive. Hard to rate Miso soup but the flavor here was great. The ginger was fresh. Most places on... More

found this thanks to Tripadvisor, but it seemed most people were local or at least frequent visitors. we over-ordered, because the mixed plates were more than enough for us. we were surprised that the price was as reasonable as it was, even compared to our favorite place at home (in Washington DC area). the fish was super fresh, and the... Lunch here is the way to go, the service can be a little sketchy but the food if quite fresh. Be warned although it says they are open until two they stop service at 1.30 so don't get there much after one or you will be out of luck. It's a popular place with the locals and don't miss the... More

We love eating at Shiono's. They have (nearly) all of our favorites on their menu (please add gyoza!), the sushi is very fresh and the cooked dishes well prepared. Inside can get noisy because they are always full, so we prefer the patio. Reservations a must.

I was able to find this restaurant thanks to some other reviewers' comments, as it's actually not on the main street but in the back of the mall. I arrived early and was the only table seated. Despite this, I found the service to be a bit lacking and I actually needed to personally find the maitre d' to get... More

There was a fair range of fresh fish available, including local fish. Chef pays attention to every little detail, adding different toppings (sauce, fish eggs) on the different rolls and sushis looked wonderful. We had the rainbow and california rolls. The sushis tasted fantastic. I have never eaten ginger that flavourful. Prices were reasonable compared to other sushi places near... More

A group of us ate here during a recent business trip. The food was excellent. I had Teriyaki Chicken with Tempura and it was great. Others in our group had fresh fish or sushi, and everyone enjoyed the meal.

We ordered tsunemono for starters to clear our palate and got a beautiful unusual dish with some large pieces of shrimp and octopus and delicious seaweed . Cucumbers were perfectly pickled. The sushi was deliciously; the fish of excellent quality. The young chef gave us a special nigiri with hamachi belly. Yum!

Best dish. Lobster tempura, anything sushi. Freshest fish. Small place, and you know when a Japanese restaurant in Hawaii is good, by seeing most of the restaurant with local and visiting Japanese guests.
