this is primarily a sushi place, although they do offer a more extensive menu with more traditional Japanese fare. We ordered the mackerel, which comes with soup, salad and rice. Luckily the fish is oily and somewhat flavorful. Otherwise this would have been like eating at a zen monastery....very little flavor or flavorful accompaniments. Also tried the soft shell crab... Had the hamachi, ahi, and the roll with macadamia nuts. Best sushi I've ever had. Fresh, great selection, great service. Go here now.

This place was recommended by one of the shop owners up the street. You've got to watch for it since it tucked in 2 stores from the sidewalk (it's a short walk south from Uncle Billy's Kona Bay Hotel). It was a little on the pricey side but some of the better sushi that I've had (live in Bay Area,... More

i thought he food was great but we found reservations essential. The price didn't seem high to me but I live in an expensive area so everything is relative.

Of the places I ate sushi in Hawai'i, this place had the freshest. Pricey but worth the price. Having said that, the miso soup was tasteless, as though all the miso had sunk to the bottom and not stirred. The tea was also not up to the standards of a good sushi restaurant at all. So the sushi chefs are... More

This place is centrally located and everything was delicious. Make a reservation, though, or you could wait a long time!

Great food and great service. The fish was fresh and the selection was amazing. Highly recommend this place. And one last thing - give this place is right in the middle of a high tourist area, the prices are quite reasonable.

Truly amazing sushi. Sushi is never cheap and sushi in Hawaii is even more expensive, but it is reasonable and very well done. If you want to make it a special occasion and have a little money to spare then I strongly urge you to do the Omakase menu (Chef's selection). It is $75 per person, and I hope they... More

My wife and I always sit at the sushi bar. We like watching the chef prepare the food. Many times the sushi chef gets so busy they do not look at the people at the bar. Not here, they are very attentive. Hard to rate Miso soup but the flavor here was great. The ginger was fresh. Most places on... More

found this thanks to Tripadvisor, but it seemed most people were local or at least frequent visitors. we over-ordered, because the mixed plates were more than enough for us. we were surprised that the price was as reasonable as it was, even compared to our favorite place at home (in Washington DC area). the fish was super fresh, and the...
