Sushi et al

Very good meal with our grandson on vacation; strip calamari and tempura veggies for appetizers and dinners included sushi dinner, tempura udon and shrimp risotto; all nicely done. Excellent service including for our grandson (not always the case in nice places). Probably better Japanese food... read more

The best way to visit this restaurant is to come during happy hour and sit at the sushi bar. Otherwise, you will see the sushi prices and wish you had come earlier. The food is very good. But, if you are hungry, you will spend a lot of money if you arrive later and/or sit at a table. Read: small... More

Here's the critique: 1) Half off on Sushi and Rolls only applies if your sit at the bar. Not fully disclosed to us until we were seated at the table. With a family of four, even with all of us over 21, sitting at bar was not appealing. But set the tone for the rest of the experience. 2) The... More

Excellent service including for our grandson (not always the case in nice places). Probably better Japanese food than Sansei Maui where we've eaten often on prior trips and I would likely choose... We went for a weeknight dinner. The service was excellent, food good, not great. I had the julienne Caesar salad and sushi. My SO had a salad and crab cakes. My salad was very good but not really a Caesar dressing. Sushi was fresh, better than many, not the best I had. Price was somewhat high, but not outrageous.

My husband and daughter are sashimi lovers and they said the tuna sashimi here at Kenichi was the best they've ever had. Then my daughter followed up her sashimi with filet mignon and it was one of the best steaks she's ever had, too! Also, must have the rice beer - Koshihikari Echigo. Smooth and delcious; you will want to... More

Amazing fresh sushi. Had a great dinner with the husband and friends. The sushi is so fresh, the rolls could be a little bigger for the amount of money it costs. Actually spent a couple hundred dollars, three drinks and dinner, we all left hungry. But it was good.

We tried it out for Happy Hour and were impressed with the trendy atmosphere, friendly service, and the excellent sushi. Enjoyed a glass of excellent plum wine, as well as nicely made tea. Very fresh and tasty, excellent value.

We had read about this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. They featured macadamia nut crusted lamb at an outrageous price. Because I love lamb I thought I'd overlook the $40 price tag. My entree arrived well done instead of rare; because of the price tag, I had it returned. The dish was cooked to perfection but was bland... More

Everyone comes to Kenichi Pacific for the fresh fish, sushi, and famous "Happy Hour", but the mac nut crusted lamb chops with this special balsamic reduction are the best ! My husband loves the ahi pepper steak! One of the best restaurants in Kona , so make a reservation!

Visited Kenichi on April 24th. Being from the Main Land, I asked the chef to put together a plate of sushi and sashimi, his choice but I only wanted native fish used. He offered a plate that only included one fish I have had was Ahi. The fish was fresh, the rolls were tight. We had great interaction and the... More
