This 40+ year-old icon of Kona is a must-see-do experience. There are two (2) elements of this destination: Huggo's on the Rocks is an outdoor style bar with tables perched in the sand over looking the ocean. There is live entertainment and an extensive pupu (appetizer) menu; as well as happy hour specials. Huggo's Restaurant is a separate building next... More

The views and servers at Huggo's cannot be beat. The prices, however, are the highest In Kona, and sometimes the kitchen is slow. As for the food, high quality is fairly consistent, although not always worth the cost. But their rates for holiday meals are among the most reasonable in the area.

My husband and I went here twice during the week we were in Kona. I love that there is an area of the restaurant where instead of regular flooring, it's all sand. It's also right on the water so you can have the entire "toes in the sand, drink in hand" experience while also enjoying some awesome poke and fish... More

I would recommend to go to Huggo's for the best view of the sunset! The servers are very friendly and fun, food is fresh. The Mia Tia's and mojotos are fabulous!

Huggo's is always on my "must stop by" list when I am in Kona. Great location, food and Mai Tai's. You must try the nachos - super yummy.

We were staying in a condo close to this restaurant and wandered in because the menu looked like what we were looking that evening. I had fish and chips and he had fish tacos. We ordered a couple of mojitos which were just excellent and then the hula dancers arrived and we felt we had made a mistake. Nothing wrong... More

Location was the best part. Server was a little too excited about his job (felt fake). Food was OK, kalbi rib plate were average, sweet potato fries were not homemade and not very good. Beer was served in a plastic glass not frosty. No kids menu, server said there was grilled cheese, sliders and quesadillas. The tables were almost Walmarti-ish,... More

Fun, super laid back atmosphere, great happy hour drink specials. The food was a little bit pricey but everything we had was really good. The spinner dolphins in the bay put on a great show for us while we sat with our feet in the sand and drank mai tai's. Pretty fantastic!

Nice place at the far end of town, worth the walk. Part of the "dining room" is on the sand. All of the dining room is shaded. Service was good, food was good, even on the larger portion size.
