I have been to Kona for 20+ years and never ate at the Royal Kona. Our friends suggested it so we joined them. We sat outside on a great circular lanai overlooking the bay in downtown Kona. Service was excellent. Food was very good and normal resort prices- higher but not outrageous. The menu was excellent with a bit of... More

Stayed four nights in Kona. The hotel is old but has been updated. Lovely gardens and pool area. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Airconditioning was efficient but noisy if left on overnight. We asked for a kettle to boil water as only a coffee maker is supplied in the room. The hotel's location is excellent for accessing the main... More

Kailua Kona is up and coming in the world of travel destinations. This hotel has the capability to compete with world-class resorts located far north of the airport, up to an hour away from the City. The location is PRIME, within walking distance of many fine eateries, venues, and beautiful ocean views. Sadly, the tourist of today, or full-time resident... More

We had an ocean view room and it was gorgeous. The lobby area is spacious and typically Hawaiian. My grandson loved the pool. It's just inside the sea wall so you can see the waves crashing on the other side. Great location...just on the same street with all the major shops and restaurants in Kona. The bar is the place... Enjoyed my one night stay at the Royal Kona. Got an upgrade to a corner suite for $30! Wonderful view on top floor. Rooms are a little bit dated, but again, view is gorgeous and besides who stays in your room when you're in Kona???

The resort itself was beautiful (restaurant/pool area/lobby/bar), however the room was sub-standard. Of course I got the cheapest room I could find ($120+ tax), the beds were old and springy (like a bad sofa sleeper mattress). The furniture was old; the ceiling was stained; the toilet ran all night long; the air conditioner was super loud; and there were ants... More

Their food was..'meh' to myself and others in our wedding group of 40. We preferred the restaurants nearby & across the street. I did however like their catering for our wedding reception food!
