older hotel right on the ocean in Kona

We booked an ocean front room and left door open and heard the waves all night long... We enjoyed that... This is an older hotel so do not expect a palace.. My friend leaves in Hawaii so we got a decent discount on our room and also 2 for 1 buffet breakfast so 2 for 19.95 it was good at... read more

We stayed here for a night and had a blast. We did the luau and the food and entertainment was spectacular. Amazing views and close to town.

We had the most wonderful time at the Luau. It was very well organized, the entertainment was perfect and the food delicious. This experience totally changed my opinion about luaus.

Very nice accomodations. A little on the old-fashioned side, but I liked that and it was clean. Our room was right at the water which was amazing! The breakfast buffet had many choices and was fairly tasty.

Great customer service and breakfast buffet. (Enjoyed Japanese options like saladbar, but need to find a way to cover up seaweed - flies all around it were gross.) Could use some basic maintenence like painting/cleaning (2nd tower anyway). But, overall a pleasant experience, nice views, listening to waves out balcony door.

We were here for happy hour. Rumor has it that Don the beachcomber invented the mai tai. The setting here is great. They have a wonderful happy hour menu with lots of good food and drink options. The setting overlooking the bay is also great.

The oceanfront room was great but the room itself a little dated. The bed was comfortable but the walls were thin. The pool was closed for repairs and the food overpriced. It is only a couple of minutes walk to down town. The feature I liked best was the hospitality room. If you have a late flight out, you can... More

Returned to this hotel after 9 years, and the location is great - close to restaurants, bars, downtown etc. We had a standard room, but were upgraded to an oceanfront view in the building next door - a room similar to where we had stayed 9 years ago. And this was done by just being nice and friendly to the... More

We purchased tickets to attend a luau for our last night on the Big Island. The drinks (included), meal and entertainment were worth every penny! Speaking with several other guests that have been to other luaus, this is "the best on the islands". We learned of the history and legends of the islands, ate some truly delicious food that included... More

Lovely sitting right by the ocean and watching the sun set, but the food is only average - more like catered standard plate. But hey, it's Hawaii and you go more for the scenery than you do the food.
