Garlic bread so good!

We loved their garlic bread! It was amazing. We had the luaulau which was good but meat was a bit tough in areas. The people who ran it seem nice. Very laid back place. It's a little hard to find in the complex kind of behind a coffee place and next to a Japanese place. It's small so you might... read more

Found this place when the Japanese restaurant next door was closed. Nice woman introduced the 3 of us to Hawaiian food. Some of it turned out good (poke), some not so good (squid). Grateful for their casual hours - they stayed open past 11PM when we needed a place to eat at.

This is a great little counter-cultural hangout on an otherwise very mainstream tourist strip. The Kava helps one chill. The food is very simple and natural Hawaiian style. Service and ambience fluctuate depending upon whose working there and who is sitting at the bar. Sometimes talkers show up and dominate the energy. Otherwise, the relaxed vibes and music feel so... Kava- A drink made by the natives of Hawaii. Prepared with the Kava root. It is know to have medicinal properties along with soothing abilities and relaxing (not drunken) characteristic. Almost a kin to the euphoric feeling of smoking marijuana. It can be a bit on the bitter side, but with a couple of chunks of pineapple to chase it... More

My companion and I wanted to try some traditional Hawaiian food while we were on the Big Island. I had read about Kanaka Kava from Trip Advisor. I was intrigued about trying kava. The man at the counter was very patient with my companion who was confused about the menu and then changed his mind a couple of times. My... More

We stumbled upon this hidden spot and were so pleasantly surprised by the food, the kava and the service that we came back here 4 times! First we tried the kava - we had never tried this before. It looks and taste like dirt water (it's literally root water) but it's supposed to be a natural relaxant and reduces anxiety... More

Awesome place that serves excellent local food at low prices and the Kava is just weirdly wonderful. We were so impressed with the food here on a previous trip that we decided to have our wedding dinner at their outdoor tables. It might not have been the most weddingy location but what more could you aske for than great food,... More
