Best cinnamon rolls in Kailua-Kona. Good coffee. Great location along Ali Drive with a great view of Kona Harbor if you don't get squeezed in-between the buildings in the back. When it comes to service, don't expect much beyond getting around to taking your order and finally bringing your food, that's it, you're done.

Had the best ever shrimp dinner over brown rice. Couldn't believe it was at a coffee shop watching the sunset.

A bunch of us wanted to have lunch there. We were on Motercycless and in all our garb. I`m talking business owners in the community. The host was so rude and actually screemed at us not to sit down. This place is very cute, right on the beach. I know the owners have done a great job. Too bad they... More

Consistently good food and service and great at the Kona coffee - latte making. Pleasant tables outside across from the ocean but in the mix of tourists with Alii drive traffic passing by. Locals still go to Lava Java. Friendly service.

This is one of our go-to places for coffee, lunch and dinner. We often meet friends here for a meal. Joe the manager is helpful and friendly. It is highly recommended you make reservations for dinner as they are usually full. Music every night. Good often local sourced food.

The coffee was excellent but the one staff member I interacted with must have been having an "I hate tourists" day. I'd still go back - the coffee was that good!

I stayed on the big island for 9 days and this is the place I visited most. It was 5 minutes walking distance from my hotel so that was great. Their café au lait and chai latte were my favorites for drinks. I did not have lunch or dinner here but their breakfast and desserts were great. The staff was... More

On our recent stay in Kona, we saw a line at this place every day, so we finally decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! The food is presented to you dressed in flowers! It tasted as good as it looked. I had the yogurt in a mango topped with homemade granola. Wow, what a... More

Conveniently located in Kailua right on the coast. We ate lunch there twice and had a very enjoyable meal both times. Service was great and the food was very good. Prices were reasonable for the location. Live music was a plus.

We tried Island Lava Java for breakfast one morning having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. You seat yourself, so we grabbed a menu and sat at a table. We only saw 1 waitress on, but were served promptly. My partner went for the Island Eggs Benedict, I went for an omlette. My partner was happy, but felt the cost was... More
