Very good especially within walking distance of the main area. Breakfast is good- especially the papaya and granola. Dinner was very good also.

I had the Bagel with lox, my companions had smoked salmon Eggs Benedict and ham and cheese croissant. There was man singing relaxing tunes while we ate . Parking located behind actual restaurant in shopping center. Great location, atmosphere and food, definitely will be going back . Returned later in day for a lava java shake....and it was AWESOME!!!

Lava Java quickly became one of our favourite stops during our two week stay in Kona. We came at first because of the free wifi, but kept coming back because of the view, service, and food. Every breakfast item we had was delicious (standard bacon and eggs, the "stack" with avocado and chipotle sauce, cinnamon bun). The ice tea is... More

On morning one in Hawaii, we were looking for a breakfast place and found Lava Java. It does not look like much, but has a nice view from the outdoor patio. My wife and I both eat gluten free and there were a variety of options for us. We generally stuck with omelettes and eggs over easy. The omelette with... More

Lava Java is on Alii Dr along with a bunch of other places with a view. We were able to sit outside for a leisurely lunch. Great ocean and people watching views. Had a ahi tuna wrap which was perfectly done and very flavorful. Others had the fish tacos and all agreed they were OK but after tasting my wrap,... More

The food is ok, the place is crowded, the music is load. The orders are slow and just ok. It's open late, but it takes along time to get the food, which was over cooked(fish of day). Nice people but not enough space. Torches outside smell of gas burning, and coupled with the street exhaust makes this place the place... More

My husband and I stayed in the Kailua-Kona area earlier this month. The location we stayed at was within walking distance to most central eating establishments since our accommodations didn't have a kitchen facility. During our week, we noticed one place that was constantly busy along the "strip". We decided to try it out after days of having "bar food".... More

We stumbled on Island Lava Java while walking down Aliii Drive. We had fish tacos with open air seating and front row view of the sunset. There was a duo playing music. $15 for Fish tacos with a side of salad or fries so good value considering the awesome view. The took home the giant cinnamon roll for breakfast the... More

We were so lucky to be within one block of this place and took full advantage. We had breakfast and lunch there on multiple occasions. The chicken or prime rib sandwich is the way to go for lunch for sure. The fries are so good, I wish they gave you more. I recommend the iced tea, as it was always... More
