We ate at this restaurant ten years ago, and were happy to see that it was still in operation. It is small, so probably not good for large groups. We were three people, so it worked out fine. The food was delicious, portions were nice sized--not too big, not too small. It was a very nice evening.

The beef tenderloin I got and the rack of lamb my husband got were excellent as well as the potatoes. There were not many items on the menu I would want to eat so my choices were limited to the tenderloin or catch of the day. Menu leans toward all meat entrees. The owners were very attentive and made us... More

A gourmet French restaurant off the beach is not always what you might be looking for when on the Big Island. But don't miss this one. Near Kona on the main highway is this small intimate gourmet restaurant owned and operated by a French couple. Excellent French cuisine and service with fresh food and excellent drinks - a must !!!!!!!!!!!!

I agreed with a reviewer's assessment about "wonderful French cuisine in a small intimate setting". The servers were not pretentious--they were very friendly. They recommended a house wine which paired perfectly with my husband's lamb chops and my seafood stew--and wine was fairly priced. Our table had three servings of scallops and each serving had a perfect "seared" to it.... More

I usually do not write reviews on restaurants, but here as my meal was exceptional...... My husband and I found it by accident, as we were driving North of the Big Island. It was called La Bourgogne. I am from the Bourgogne area in France so it caught my attention. So we decided to go there in the evening... We... More

The best French restaurant in Hawaii, and in the top 10 overall restaurants (of any cuisine). Run by a husband (chef) and wife (server) team, this is a restaurant for serious foodies. Very classy, and the staff know the right balance between friendly service and professional attitude. Don't go in there with an air of you know everything about French... More

Really excellent food if you are tired of the merely good offerings in Kona. Perfectly prepared. Options include duck, rack of lamb, veal sweetbreads and more. I recommend the chocolate souffle. Great wine list.

Hard to imagine a French dinner when in Kona, but La Bourgogne tries to provide the experience. Food was acceptable to all our group, but not 'best in the world.' Wines were enjoyed, but pricey. Bring your wallet.

When I used to come to Hawaii to visit, I always discarded the idea of eating in a French restaurant with no view. I have lived here many years now, and it took all this time to decide to try La Bourgogne. I really missed out for a long time. The menu is varied without being burdensome. As I studied... More
