I grew up in Long Beach, CA where the Thai population is one of the largest outside of Thailand and good restaurants for the downtown area. I have had Thai food in several countries (except Thailand) and as a way to gauge the freshness and quality, I usually order the same items at first. The quality of food on my... More

This restaurant was just ok for a Thai place. We had Pad Thai and red curry, both were just okay, not as good as we had hoped. The food also had a slightly oily burnt taste. Service was good and the food came quite quickly.

We have consistently had great food and quick service here. It's obvious that many of the customers are locals who have figured out that you get good value and enjoyable food. Their curry dishes are savory and you can get them mild if you prefer.

The food is very good and the location in great, but service can be a bit slow...just relax and have a beer and enjoy.

We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. I am a celiac and have been having a hard time finding places to eat on the Big Island. The Royal Thai was very accommodating and could make almost any dish gluten free. The food was delicious and no reaction - yay!!! Service was exceptional - the staff really try to cater to... More

The Royal Thai in Keauhou Shopping Center is our Go-To Thai place in Kona! Since we've been back on the Island, we've already been there twice. No doubt, we'll hit it several more times before we head back to cold Minnesota in February. The service here is always fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable casual. It appears to... Nice choice with a great menu full of choices. Spotless premises with smart service. Food was great, fresh and tasty offering really good value. But the Pad Thai, nothing like what the national dish should taste like. The chef needs to take a trip home !

Before some night snorkeling we stopped at this recommended restaurant, mostly for convenience. What a delightful find! It's definitely worth going out of your way. We were immediately greeted by the host and service was excellent. The basil spring rolls were elegant and delicious. I had the pineapple fried rice, others the Pad Thai, and Pineapple Curry. All were wonderful... More

Pleasantly surprised with food quality and flavor profiles. Entrees served lightning fast. Beware spicy level 3 out of 5 is crazy hot. Would definitely recommend despite smaller than average portions. Will be back.
