Fine Food

Though not the highest caliber food that you will come in contact with, it is certainly not a restaurant to disregard. Good food and good portions, I recommend that you use the Big Island Grill as a lunch stop for its speedy service.

Love Big Island grill! Good local food. Best loco moco but a few other options if not wanting the true local food. Good value too.

We enjoyed our meal so much the first time we went back a 2nd time during our vacation. Both times, my son got the short ribs and I got the chopped steak with onions & peppers in a sweet Hawaiian sauce. The others got different items from the Hawaiian style/local favorites page of menu and everyone said their meals were... More

We came for dinner , and were seated fairly quickly. That's when the problems began. Sitting and waiting, literally for over 30 min for anyone to approach us or bring some water. Other table were getting drinks, food , but not us. The lady ( older asian lady) who got us a table decided to be our server that day,... More

This is a great Hawaiian style restaurant. Menu includes loko moko, saimin and other local favorites. Prices are very reasonable. We were there for an early dinner around 5pm, and the room was almost empty. Quick service.

This restaurant offered good basic food and lots of if. I noticed families sharing plates. The service was fast and the food was as one expects in a local family owned family restaurant. Locals recommended it and we enjoyed eating there.

When visiting Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawai’i the trendy place is the waterfront beach walk resplendent with spirited restaurants, shopping and everything one might require to enjoy the ample water sports in the area. However, on our recent trip we decided to find out where the locals dined and were guided to the Big Island Grill with... More

Every time we visit Kona, we've been here once or twice. What they serve is very dependable basic food that isn't going to set the culinary world on fire. It's a fairly busy place, during the dinner rush, the parking is a pain. This last visit, we had a few orders of the meatloaf lunch special, a few orders of... More

We were hungry after our flight. We saw the Big Island Grill and stopped to eat. Lots of people eating. Most seem to know the people in the restaurant. We were seated immediately but was served a few minutes later. Server was very friendly, though very busy seating people, taking orders and getting payment. Portion sizes are big. We brought... Recently stopped in for breakfast, and we were glad we did! Lots of locals, which is always a good sign, portions were huge so we had enough leftover for breakfast the next morning, and they have coconut syrup, which seems to be hard to find lately. My pancakes were big and fluffy, came with eggs and portuguse sausage, and the... More
