Very casual atmosphere, able to accommodate our large group. Menu with variety and good local dishes. I had the special sweet & sour spare ribs. Service was attentive and friendly, but tapered off as the dinner wore on. Would recommend for a very casual and simple dining option.

The Big Island Grill has become a must on our visits to the big Island, the restaurant is a popular local haunt. The fish dishes are always super fresh, my particular favorite is the Fish of the day in caper sauce. The restaurant is a terrific value, you won't go away hungry! No sunset views over the water, just wonderful... More

I first visited this restaurant about six years ago. The restaurant has local dishes any many dishes that served are served in a general restaurant on the main land. The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable and the dishes are large. The service is very good. The parking can... More

We recently took our extended family to the Big Island Grill. We always take our guests (we live here in Kona) but this is the first time we have taken a baby...our first grandson. My son and I both had the loco moco. Charles had the traditional, hamburger rice gravy and egg. I had my special: roast pork, over fries... More

Being from the Hilo side of the Big Island, a trip to Kona is a day long event. In some cases a weekend adventure. Now, one of the places we like to treat ourselves to is the BIG ISLAND GRILL. The portions are good and food is good also. This recent trip we went, it seemed we just missed some... More

Stumbled on this place around lunchtime. Already starting to fill up which is always a good sign. Very friendly staff and prompt service. Good range of basic food, some Hawaiian traditional, and very reasonably priced. Fish and shrimp dishes were very tasty and substantial amounts. Restaurant was air conditioned too which is a bonus. By the time we left there... More
