While you are on The Big Island you have to have "poke"! "Da Poke Shack" has two locations, one on Ali'i drive and the other in the town of Captain Cook. We went to the Ali'i Drive location on our very first weekday on the Island and one other time in our 8 day stay on the island. We probably... More

So good. We had been craving this place for a whole year. Worth the wait. We had fresh ahi poke with avocado. The atmosphere is like a deli. Couple of picnic tables. Nothing special, right next to the road. That is what makes the perfect set up for fresh take away, Take your chop sticks and grab a beer and... More

Outstanding poke. Very rustic and quaint setting. Best Ahi ever. Fresh with outstanding marinades and sides. Service was a bit slow; but well worth the wait.

during our 1 week stay at the Wyndham Monaloa Village, we came here 3 times , twice for the variety of poke, spicy garlic sesame, dynamite, shack special, shoyu, etc, all delicious but the best is the side of see weed with quinoa, sweet ginger base crunchy flavor. the huli huli chicken is juicy & tender; Kalua pork very tasty,... The place appearance is very humble - a small shop with a couple tables outside and a few 15 minutes parking spots. But once you get in ... Wow! They have many kinds of poke - the traditional Hawaiian dish made of raw fish and sides. If you've never tried that - think about Japanese sashimi sliced into smaller pieces... More

Extra slow is not always the Hawaiian way, but here, be prepared to stand in line for a half hour for your selections. Poke is raw fish, usually, although there are often some cooked selections too. It is a kind of salad, eaten cold, usually with rice. You can get beer here too, or soft drinks. Portions are same as... More

a delightful little shop on the ground floor of a condo by the water. The poke is quite tasty, with large bits of lovely raw fish. Most of the sauces are basically a variation of Japanese styles...nothing like ceviche, so rather salty, and presented in very large chunks. Still, a nice local culinary experience, with very little fanfare. Incidentally, you... More

Was recommended to da poke shack by a friend. She loved it so much she brought a business card for me back to Canada because I was going to Big Island a month later. Turns out our condo was walking distance from it so we went for lunch the first day. I got the 2 variety bowl and my wife... More

Worth the wait. Fish was being chopped and prepared as we waited. The poke was amazing. Only issue, one server working the counter with huge like while other employees came and went. Seems like someone could have helped her out.

I will stop by this little place almost everyday when I am at Kona. I love the seafood here, especially octopus. Will definitely back again.
