Thai food in Kailua-Kona top five but not #1 Yet

The kitchen does some nice tricks and surprises to dishes we tried. Nothing bounced up and went say wow but it was good. Decor is so so, wait staff was the same. The outside is plain ugly but it is worth a stop for some decent Thai in Kona town. The selections are inviting and the food prep... read more

Really enjoyed our meals here. The food was fresh and service cordial. They were also honest when I asked if something would keep for a plane ride home.

So after a long drive back from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park we decided we had to stop and get something to eat. Everywhere looked closed but we saw some people coming out of the restaurant so we quickly parked up and ran inside. They were just closing up but agreed to make us something. We were so so grateful... More

This is a fairly quiet spot a few blocks off the beach, but the green curry was great. The vegetable and Tum Yum soups were also very good. The staff was friendly and service was great. I would go again!

Krua is a favorite spot for lunch or dinner when we are in Kona because there are so many vegetarian options. I was sad to see that they now charge a pricey cover charge for bringing your own wine or beer. The food is still great, although it seems that "medium" is a lot hotter now! We have tried a... More

After hearing a buzz about how good the food was here, I decided to give it a try for lunch. I will start with the only positive thing I have to say about the experience. The wonton appetizer was tasty, however they were perhaps the smallest wontons I have ever seen and were served with this weird sauce that was... More

We were all very happy with our meals. My green chicken curry was hotter than I'd expected, but otherwise, very good with good brown rice. Eggplant dish was tasty. Family member ordered his dish "medium" hot (we warned against ordering "hot" knowing just how "hot" thai food can get) but it wasn't hot at all. (He solved that by spooning... More

We were seated right away with no reservations. When food arrived it looked a bit watery but was actually delicious. Lots of vegetarian options. One of our best meals on this trip.

Food: both times we visited, the food was fresh, authentic, and mild (spicier options are always available). There were plenty of vegetarian/ vegan options, as well. Service: The staff are incredibly friendly and remembered us on our second visit. They took time to chat with us and showed sincere interest in the conversation. Atmosphere: The restaurant was clean and layed... More
