This is where the locals eat

I had the the fish plate and he'd had grilled cheese both were really good. My fish plate came two sides I got brown rice and salad The meal was very reasonable under $20 for both meals and one of the best I have had during my 2 weeks on 2 islands

Generous portions, great tasting and very reasonably priced Hawaiian plate lunches! We tried several items and were not disappointed with any of them. Will go cackling the next time we are on the Big Island!

The food is delectable, the location is clean with plenty of seating and the staff was courteous. We ordered the Korean fried chicken and a mixed plate with chicken katsu and kalbi beef. I've eaten plenty of local food and this was top notch at a convenient location and good prices.

Good cheap eat. They have healthy options, I had the teriyaki grilled chicken burger with a salad. Would come back again.

Dropped into this little plaza by the Kona airport for lunch. Saw the Pine a Tree Cafe and gave it a try. Sure glad we did! The reception was welcoming and very helpful in explaining the Dalit specials and the great menu on the wall. For a small cafe there were a lot of choices. Everything is made to order... More

If you want to have a relaxed, cheap, local lunch - anything from teriyaki, kalbi, or some of the local Hawaiian standards (loco moco, hulihuli chicken, you can get spam musubi), this is a great place. Huge portions and a relaxed atmosphere with good food. It's counter service on paper plates, and that's just right for the situation. The big... More

What can I say about this lowly Haole looking for da' best grinds on da big isle???? He found dem at da Pine Tree. Look...the skinny short and sweet: Its not fancy (in a little strip mall near the airport) Its not gourmet ( no fancy words in the descriptions, no umbrellas in drinks, no need to break out your... This one is easy, see the heading. And, the cook was perspiring so badly I expected my food to be extra salty. Heads up; if this establishment is opposed to your race, religion or sexuality you may have some drama. They post a very obvious sign saying, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." Read between the lines....... More

Good local cafe. Big breakfast menu. Order at the counter, let them know if it is eat in or take out. We had omelets and they were very good. Crispy hash browns. Busy location but quick service.

I first have to say that you can eat from the floor of how clean this place was. I have never seen such a spotless restaurant. We ordered their fish and chips and it was amazing. The fish was not greasy and was fresh. When I come back to the island this is definitely a stop I will be making.... More
