Amazing food

I first have to say that you can eat from the floor of how clean this place was. I have never seen such a spotless restaurant. We ordered their fish and chips and it was amazing. The fish was not greasy and was fresh. When I come back to the island this is definitely a stop I will be making.... read more

This spot gets busy at breakfast, and diner, but gets crazy busy at lunch. It's close to the airport so hungry tourist looking for the nearest bite flock here. Add that with a the construction going on close by, and you have a hour wait for a plate lunch. I once waited 45 minutes for a mahi sandwich, and vowed... More

Good local menu, but they have also expanded to fresh fresh, and daily specials. Their salads are great too, but what makes the unique is their "bento" to go lunches. Basically a Japanese picnic sampler. Could be a piece of chicken, sushi, or rice, hot dogs, Teri beef. They have so many, but as a local they are so great... More

It's hard to find a good plate lunch in Kona and this is worth a stop if you are heading north towards the airport (next to Subway about 10 mins out if Kona). God sandwiches too. It's not an exciting place to eat (kind of a minimal) so get it to go.

....stopped for lunch...hubby & I shared a teri beef/teri chicken plate & chili...comes with the staples: rice & mac salad....very good flavors...order at counter & get a table...good service...on the way to town from the airport or vice versa...large variety of plates to chose from...seems like you can't go wrong!

Great menu options for any taste. They get you in & out timely and the place looks clean. The "Subway" catches your eye from the road but if your looking for a meal to eat on the plane ride back to the mainland, the options are much better. Wish I had stopped by earlier on my vacation when heading to... More

this joint has so much to choose from. for breakfast, the coconut pancakes are good, although i usually get the cheeseburger for breakfast : ) chicken katsu is great, too. coming from kona you pass by it on the way up to kua bay and hapuna, so it just makes sense to grab your grindz and take em to the... When I travel, I always look for where the locals eat. The food may not be "fancy," but if it's bad, you don't stay in business. Plus, you have a travel budget to keep, right? This is why you want a place like Pine Tree Cafe. The menu is huge, so even picky eaters will find SOMETHING. Everything is good,... More

This place is where all the locals go to eat. Not fancy, but tasty and hardy. Watch for their specials, often they have Ono fish and chips, which are outstanding.

We asked several residents of the Kona area for a recommended local spot for us to try, and all 3 of them recommended Pine Tree. It was pretty average in all respects. We definitely saw that the majority of patrons were locals, so this isn't a touristy spot. Ample portions, solid comfort food, reasonable prices, quick service. Lots of local... More
