This place gets a LOT of business, always a line at lunchtime. But its where the locals eat. GREAT selection. More of a diner than a restaurant. MSG in most things I suspect. still a place to check out for sure

Great out of the way place with no frills and great prices. Food was excellent and my husband and I able to eat for under $30 for both of us. We loved it & will be eating there again.

I went here on my last day in town...I should have gone sooner! I had the mahi burger (for breakfast as you can get any thing on the meu all day). The fish was super fresh and there was a large amount on the sandwich. you can get it grilled or battered. I couldn't believe it was only $6.00!!! I... More

We stopped at the one located near the airport after we had landed. Great comfort food. I had the loco mock and the wife had the teriyaki chicken. Both were great. Shorts and flip flops won't make you out of place.

The Pine Tress Cafe was recommend to us by an agent at the Hertz counter. We ate there 3 times during our 2 1/2 day stay on the BI. The food was great! My daughter and I had poke (a local dish). The french toast was excellent. Omelettes were great. Portions were filling. The place had a steady stream of people... More

Truly awesome diner style food with an island flair. Great fries, cheeseburgers, etc. Quick to serve and very filling. A must visit place.

My cousin is part Japanese/Hawaiian so when she told me this place was legit we knew we would get some tasty plate lunches. Our first day there we got the Loco Moco and saimin which were all so delicious. We decided to pick lunch up there to go before we went to the airport to head home. We ordered hamburgers,... More

We walked in this place, not knowing what to expect and discovered that the local Hawaiian workers eat here. The menu is varied with lots of fish dishes including poke and other fish delicacies. We had the grilled ono bowl, with rice and pickles. It was excellent! The next day we had fried ahi belly with french fries. Very good,... More

We dropped by here for dinner after a long day of traveling, hitting a couple of beaches, dropping by Umeke's and Hawaiian Ice Cone, and Longs. Pine Tree Cafe is a few minutes south of Kona Airport on Hulikoa off Queen Ka'hunanu Highway. The signature items are Huli Huli Chicken and Loco Moco. However, they were out of Huli Huli... More

My wife and I checked out the grinds here while on the Big Island and I have to say that breakfast was outstanding. I had heard plenty about the Pine Tree and expected a very "local" atmosphere. It is certainly not your traditional "hole in the wall" restaurant. Clean, orderly, quick. I had banana pancakes and my wife had French... More
