When I travel, I always look for where the locals eat. The food may not be "fancy," but if it's bad, you don't stay in business. Plus, you have a travel budget to keep, right? This is why you want a place like Pine Tree Cafe. The menu is huge, so even picky eaters will find SOMETHING. Everything is good,... More

This place is where all the locals go to eat. Not fancy, but tasty and hardy. Watch for their specials, often they have Ono fish and chips, which are outstanding.

We asked several residents of the Kona area for a recommended local spot for us to try, and all 3 of them recommended Pine Tree. It was pretty average in all respects. We definitely saw that the majority of patrons were locals, so this isn't a touristy spot. Ample portions, solid comfort food, reasonable prices, quick service. Lots of local... More

We went here last night for dinner and I enjoyed their Korean Chicken bowl. I highly recommend their Fried Chicken which I ate a previous time, delicious, yummy; the rest of my family ordered this and were glad they did! I sure missed out on the tuna potato salad which is delicious, taste like how my mom made it; should... More

We hit Costco and stopped here on the basis of the reviews. Everything was right on as advertised. My spouse loved her chicken teriyaki as well.

Cafe right on the main highway just south of the airport. It gets its name from the Pine Trees surf beach, closeby. Its a diner so nothing special in the atmosphere department. Great place to grab some food after swimming or surfing. Hawaiian comfort food at its finest. The place is inexpensive and delicious!

We eat at Pine Trees often. It's very close to the airport, and better than airplane food, so it's the perfect stop on your way off island. The atmosphere, food and service are all very local style. The fish and chips, especially if it's ono season, are wonderful. The side salads are also very good. The service is typical Hawaii.... More

You order at the counter from a menu on the wall. You find a table and your food is delivered to you. I would say, 90% of the customers were people that live on the Big Island and probably from the Kona area. Pine Tree is located in a strip shopping center between the airport and Kona. Food is simple,... More

My wife and I had the O'no fish and chips which were unique, but tasty, to our taste buds. They came with ubiquitous French fries and a garden salad. The menu is quite varied. Simply order from the menu and wait for your ample order to be prepared and served in a Styrofoam container. It's not fancy, but it is... More
