Good Local Food

The ONLY reason that I gave this place a four and not a five was the macaroni salad. A lunch plate is not a Hawaiian l plate without the macaroni salad, and this place's macaroni salad was nasty. I ordered the lunch plate with teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu, white rice, and that macaroni salad... read more

If you want an inexpensive lunch (about $40 for 4 including drinks) that tastes pretty good and will fill you up, this is the place to go. My family liked their choice of Loco Moco (all ordered the small and it was a BIG serving!) and my chicken katsu was a little greasy and a little salty, but overall ok.... More

We were looking for a fairly quick place to eat prior to departing at the Kona Airport. We saw this restaurant and decided to stop as we were a group of ten and have a variety to tastes. The Pine Tree is in a mini mall with a Subway and a Mexican restaurant so there is good variety. We all... More

This is one of only a handful of inexpensive but good restaurants in Kona, the food is good and reasonably priced.

We actually found out about this place from someone that worked at the seahorse farm. Went right after our tour and was so happy we did. I had the kalbi and Korean chx plate lunch and mom had the fried poke salad. It was soooo good!! Very fresh and the flavors of everything were fantastic. We liked it so much... More

They serve food all day but we only ate there for breakfast. The food was good and the value was excellent. We like that it was north of town and stopped there on our way to the beach rather than go through town.

This place is great for a variety of Hawaiian and family favorites. Try the loco moco. It is a hamburger patty with fried egg over rice (white or brown) and brown gravy.

Stopped in for lunch as recommended by the coffee shop. Reasonable priced menu, many different types of food from salads, teriyaki, Korean, shrimp, hamburgers, ribs. My husband had a grill chicken sandwich and I had a shrimp burger. Both sandwiches were excellent.

The Avis rental car company staff recommended this food near the airport. Wow! Were we disappointed. Dirty local construction worker fast food joint. The counter staff was rude. Food was mostly fat and deep fried. Water had dirt in it. I recommend fining another place to eat.

We went here for lunch on the advice of friends who have lived here for 20 years. It certainly is a local place. I don't know what the fuss is all about. My "famous, homemade" beef stew tasted OK, but each bite of beef was fatty. The side of macaroni salad was little more than elbow pasta and half a... More
