Been there twice, once in Oct 2013 and now, 1 yr later. Both visits offered a great service and excellent local cuisine meals. Can especially recommend the local beef gulash, which is probably the best I've ever had.

Zell am Zee is not the culinary capital of Austria, so this restaurant is as good as it gets. Nice atmosphere, well located, very good local food and professional service. Prices are slightly higher than some other comparable restaurants, but overall this is probably a better place than the rest. Portions are large, and the house red wine was very... More

We had staing in the Steinwirt hotel two times. The cuisine of restaurant is absolutly good. I have been in Austria many times and I belive they cook perfect. The favorit of my wife is tafelspitz , for myself are duck, Grostl, Wiener Schnitzel. Sevice is OK . And don't forget about wine keller . They have a good choice... More

This has all your basic Austrian foods and was really good. The decor is old-fashioned fanciness and really sweet, but you don't have to be dressed up particularly nice to go, especially for lunch. The prices were a little higher than your normal Austrian menu, but they were good and the portions were big.

We ate at the Steinerwirt for the first time a few days ago. My husband had the trout which was excellent and I had the ragout of venison with amazing dumplings. The ragout was rich and delicious but a little too salty for my taste. Our deserts were also delicious. Huge ice cream sundae. I couldn't finish it.

We ate here based on a recommendation from our hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we had the boiled beef (fantastic creamed spinach) and chicken, with apple strudel and a plum dumpling for dessert. Food was great, served piping hot and very tasty, portion size was good and we were pleased with our choices. Service was good though a little... More

In a country where it is almost impossible to eat badly, this turned out to be the only disappointing culinary experience of our holiday. We have eaten regularly at the Steinewirt on all our holidays in Austria over the last 7 years, and have found it to be generally very pleasant in the past. The story was somewhat different this... The Steinerwirt offers the traditional Austrian cusine but with a more modern twist. I had the lamb (mostviertler lammhaxe) and it was superb! So tender and tastefull. My friends were also happy with their food. The creme brulee however was terrible - more like a pudding. We complained and the waiter was very understanding and offered another dessert. We refused,... More

I've read some reviews on tripadvisor prior to visitting this restaurant and did expect more to be honest. however, Solid portions and quick service, but nothing to special! I had a chicken Vienna style - basically chicken fried as a snitzel, ordered a carpaccio for a starter, which tastes watery. But nice staff and quick service.
