This is a great place to eat and the atmosphere is charming. Martin, his wife and all his staff work very hard to make your experience a positive one. We always make a point of eating there when we are visiting St Gilgen..

I know it sounds weird to start a restaurant review with impressions of the bathrooms but that's what I'm going to do. It was taking a little while (perhaps more than a little while) for our dinners to come so I went to the men's room which was modern in an alpine way and spotless. I came back to the... More

Beautiful garden setting in the middle of this beautiful town. The service was excellent, enthusiastic and prompt. The food was great and the local wines are something everyone must try. Very fresh and full of flavour. The potato soup was the favorite of our family. The family owned little restaurant is always packed with people and the waiters and waitresses... More

We were in St Gilgen for 6 nights and ate here our first evening. The food was so good that we broke our rule of returning to a restaurant while on vacation for a second visit. My husband especially enjoyed the venison stew and the pork medallions should not be missed. The restaurant takes advantage of their on-site garden for... More

On our first visit to St Gilgen in 2010 we had dinner @ Wirt am Gries and was pleased with the food, ambience and the service. On our return visit in April, we decided to patronize it again and it did not disappoint. Wirt am Gries seem to have spruced up the whole exterior and it is brighter with more... More

Typical Austrian countryside restaurant with local cuisine. We came there rather late for dinner. The service was genuinely friendly. 5 points for that, indeed. The food was good and fresh. We had a starter and a main course each. The salad was covered with fresh herbs. The dill in the trout gave it a fantastic additional flavor. Still, the look... More

The outdoor seatings are in a big and beautiful garden. Inside the restaurant it is warm and classically decorated and relaxing. The menu is quite extensive. The starter of fish tartar and cream of mushroom soup was quite a bold and innotive combination and it was good. The grill venison was very fresh and tasty and well cooked at medium... More

Just got back from visiting Christmas Markets. We visited many towns, and this was by far our best meal. I cannot wait to go back.

Had a lovely meal in Wirt am Gries a few days ago. Despite not booking a table and it being very busy, the waiter found us a table. Lovely meal of Pork fillet and wild mushrooms and kids options were great too. Approx 60 euros for 4 main courses and a drink each.

Very busy when we arrived but we got a table. They gave us the English menu, which didn't seem the same as the German menu. The English menu had half as many options listed so I recommend asking for the German one and trying for a translation. The salad bar (serve yourself) was great, although some of the salad bowls...
