Buffalo Stew!

This is the place to have buffalo stew. Let's face it...South Dakota is a bit of a food desert, so you may as well "eat locally".

We have been here during the off season (for thanksgiving) and enjoyed a good meal at a reasonable price. At that time it is buffet so service is mostly on our own. This visit (August) was at height of tourist season. The staff all seemed frazzled. The hostess muttered some correction to a younger hostess right in front of us...very... More

If you're at the memorial and hungry, this is the only option. Average food, dated decor, slow service.

The food was really good and the service was fantastic. We visited the restaurant during our visit to the Crazy Horse Memorial and museum during our trip to Sturgis 2015. Would recommend this restaurant!

The food here was excellent. Our party of 6 all had different entrees and all thought the food was great. Server was very friendly, and said she had never seen plates so clean (everyone had used breads).

Visited Crazy Horse Monument and the Laughing Water Restaurant on a cross country trip. I ordered the Tatanka Stew. It was delicious although I wish the serving was bigger. The Indian Fry Bread did its part in filling me up the rest of the way. It is a tad pricey for the serving sizes but the view of Crazy Horse... More

They use the Lakota name for bison, I think, but we call it buffalo stew, and it is delicious. The view out the windows is of Crazy Horse mountain, of course, and it's nicely air conditioned. In the back they serve Blue Bell ice cream. My Texas cousins swear by it.

Bean soup was Good and tacos great. Service was excellent. Beautiful view of the mountain from our table. The price was very reasonable... $5 for a glass of wine.

We had lunch here while visiting the Memorial. The menu offers a typical selection of dishes at reasonable prices. There was a short wait for a table to become available but despite how busy they were on the day, the food was well prepared and the service acceptable.
