Custer is a lovely little spot, and a great place to stay in the Black Hills. What we didn't account for is that during off season, there is almost no place to eat a meal. The Wrangler is all there is for breakfast (off season). I had a basic omelette, and it was cooked to death. I'm not sure they... More

A friend took me here for breakfast, food was excellent and a very good rate. The cinnamon rolls are to die for. I had dinner as well on another visit, the menu lacked variety but was decent.

I live in Rapid City, SD, and I like to eat there when I come down to Custer. You can tell the employee's enjoy their job and care about your experience there. The owner, Steve Blume, is an excellent manager and works very hard to keep his restaurant going well. I would choose the Wrangler out of any other restaurant... More

Wonderful stop! Great impression on my first time in South Dakota. Service was exceptional. When we wanted both types of fries, we all got both for the price of one.

I make this my breakfast stop whenever I am in Custer as the service has always been friendly and the food has always been good! The coffee cup is never empty. The restrooms are clean. What more could you ask for?

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday in October 2013-- my wife ordered a fish sandwich, I ordered the brisket sandwich. Pretty good! She said the fish sandwich was "excellent" and I would call mine "very good." They used way too much barbeque sauce on mine, so I scraped the extra off and had a very enjoyable lunch. Fries were... Good food, good prices, excellent service. We ate there twice while staying in Custer. They are closed on Sundays, or we might have been back for a third..

We ate supper and breakfast at the Wrangler and found the meal and service to be excellent both times. We look forward to our next visit!

It is a plain looking place, but with limited options in the area, we decided to try it. Kids running around inside, out of control and making noise. Everything needed a good cleaning, floors, walls, tables, etc. Understaffed when we were there. Buffalo burger had no taste, ham & swiss grilled sandwich was better, but not deli quality. In addition,... More
