A Nice unpretentious stop

Bitter Esters is on the main street in Custer and is very laid back with a great selection of microbrews. Note - if you are a typical American craft beer drinker who likes to have a lot of preservative (hops) in your beer - don't even bother stopping. Bitter Esters brews beer with a decent... read more

We stopped her on our way out of town to grab a burger. It was a holiday weekend, and it was very busy in the restaurant - but worth a wait if you're in the area. I had the mushroom & swiss, my husband had the cheddar & bacon - both were amazing! We did not try any brews, since... More

Our visit to this brew house was not suggested and was just a spur of the moment decision while traveling through Custer on Sunday. The staff greeted us as we walked in the door and we decided to sit at the bar for lunch. I found the staff friendly enough although for being a brewhouse they did not make any... More

A very busy place with basic food choices; pizza and chicken sandwich with carmelized onions were good; good microbrews.

We always like to try out local establishments and Bitter Esters was a good choice. There were ~6 microbrews on tap and we also had a pizza which was quite good. Prices are reasonable, would definitely go back!

We just chose to stop in here for dinner one evening because it looked interesting & wasn't too crowded. One of the best decisions we've made! We opted to order a flight of beers. Our waiter was incredibly helpful with our choices & in explaining what went into each brew. We had a great time talking to him about our... More

We stopped for lunch one afternoon, and am I glad we did! I always get drawn towards microbreweries, for the great beer and hope the food is satisfactory. Well, I had a Farmhouse Ale they brew and it was excellent. Then I tasted the Ruben sandwich I ordered, and holy s*#t batman, it was incredible! Without a doubt, the BEST... More

Got a flight and my favorites were unexpected. The Red Medicine Brown Ale is smooth and light. The coffee flavored ale is the best and I don't even like coffee. Don't be afraid to sample outside your comfort zone. Also ordered a classic burger and a ham+pineapple pizza, both very good. Went on a Saturday night and it was busy... More

Visited Sunday lunch. Quite busy with a short wait for a table for 2 couples. Local microbrewery with great beer choices. The buffalo burgers were delicious. Staff were polite and helpful. House wine was tasty.
