We stopped here for lunch because we were in the park and it was one of the few places in the park close for a sit down meal. The food was average at best. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, but that's about it. Don't go for the food, but it is warm and cozy.

I had lunch at the Sylvan Lake Lodge on the outdoor terrace. The view was wonderful. Even though the restaurant was not crowded the service was very slow and very inattentive. I ordered a Buffalo Pattie Melt with steak fries. The food was excellent, but took 25 minutes for it to arrive. It took another 10 minutes to get my... More

Needles highway is enough to make anyone feel a bit motion sick, so a stop at the lake for a swim, hike and climb on the rocks was just right for our family. Small swim area/beach but we didn't need more. Bring your towel and camera, it is just beautiful up there!

The Sylvan Lake Lodge Restaurant is a beautiful place to enjoy an excellent meal! We just returned from a nice visit to the Black Hills and Custer State Park. Sylvan Lake is our favorite place to visit while in the park. The scenery is breathtaking around the lake. This was our first visit to the lodge for a meal and... More

We had lunch here on the way from Mt. Rushmore to Hot Springs. It's a lovely location on a beautiful lake (though he restaurant itself has no view). The restaurant has a cozy log lodge appearance. The menu is fairly extensive, and our sandwiches and homemade soup were very good. I wanted to go back for dinner!

We made a stop here on our bus tour. My daughter and I had a total fan moment when we learned that the rocks in the middle of the lake are the rocks in the movie "National Treasure: Book of Secrets"

4* Restaurant --$$ per person, much improved service and meal from other (2012) restaurant reviews. We had Walleye, buffalo tenderloin, elk chop, and beef rib-eye in our group. All meals were delicious. Elk steak was at first refused as too well-done. Replacement chop was quickly prepared, med rare-just right, delicious, and made right on meal ticket. That was superb service!... More

We arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday for lunch and found the restaurant mostly empty. Service was prompt and friendly. Menu had a lot of good choices; it was hard to choose, but we wanted to have a buffalo burger on our trip "out west" and thought this looked like a good place to try it. It was; the burgers,... More
