Must Do Attraction

This is a great place to cool down when it is hot. The water is spring feed and cool. They no longer let you jump off the rocks into the water. The trail around the lake is a nice hike. Bring a bottle of water with on the trail.

One of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen. Get there early in the morning before the breeze picks up for some gorgeous photos of the rocks reflecting in the water. There is a fairly easy and fun 1 mile loop around the lake, or if you are looking for more adventure, do the loop and add the Sunday Gulch... More

Very beautiful views. Take a hike and walk around it. Bring your hiking shoes and walk. You can get all the way around the lake you just need to be creative to go though some of the terrain.

Very nice historic lake in the heart of the Black Hills. Great vista and if the old historic hotel was still there it would have even been better. The newer hotel built in the 1930's is set back over the crest of the mountain above the lake and one cannot see the lake from the hotel.

As a veteran National and State Park visitor, I know that "lodge food" typically leaves much to be desired. But not at Custer State Park. The menu at Sylvan Lake Lodge Restaurant offered something tasty for everyone, including vegetarians. The quinoa salad was as good as you would find in any trendy urban eatery. They also had yummy desserts. Service... More

Loved this place! Although we didn't rent a kayak or canoe, just walking around the lake is a lot of fun!

It's rare that you find an upscale restaurant in a State Park setting. This is a wonderful restaurant with a gorgeous terrace that overlooks the lake and the Needles. The food is quite good as is the service. A winner!

This place is amazing! The rock formations are alien looking and just...cool. We went on the trail around the lake (it's only a mile. It was an easy walk and had some amazing views and hidden little waterfalls treasures.

We enjoyed our afternoon at Sylvan Lake. We took the hike all the way around. The water was beautiful and clear! We would love to come back for another visit.

We ate breakfast in the dining room since we didn't have to get such an early start. I had the pancake and eggs and my husband had the French toast. While the food was good and the setting was lovely, it was a tad over priced. But it is to be expected in a vacation location and there aren't too,many... More
