A great Fall Trip

The entire area is outstanding. Naturally beautiful and full of life. Anyplace connected so closely with Custer State Park would make for a memorable visit.

Don't forget to visit Sylvan Lake. It is one of the high lights that you will see, amoung many. We have been traveling to the area for ten summers and always make a return trip to this fantastic place. You , your kids and friends will marvel at the beauty of the lake, surrounding rocks, hiking trails and complete gift... More

This is the first time we have walked the trails at the lake...there is so much to see and the walk is easy for all ages. We highly recommend this stop.

Our 2nd day during Sturgis week 2015 we did. Mt Rushmore, Iron MT, Needles, Custer ST Park and Sylvan Lake all in one day. While we where at the lake we had lunch and walked around the lake love it. Then our last night we had we went back up to the Lodge and had dinner amazing!

We were only there long enough for lunch. The area is beautiful, but can only honestly review the restaurant which I have done in a separate review. In brief, service was good, the food was average and somewhat pricey. The man at the reservation desk was very friendly and helpful. If the weather was a bit warmer we would have... More

We really enjoyed doing the 1 mile lake loop trail. This would have been a great place for the Flintstones to have vacationed. My husband enjoyed rock climbing with our dog. After rewatching National Treasure Book of Secrets we noticed that Sylvan Lake is actually where they claimed was behind Mt. Rushmore.

We stopped at Sylvan Lake on the way back from Custer State Park. This is a beautiful spot where the rocks seem to grow out of the lake. There are a lot of trails you can hike. Stop here.

The journey was fabulous, not to be hurried, plenty of places to pull over and enjoy the view. Sylvan lake was very pretty with good trail around the lake. We also enjoyed the view from the cabins up by the lodge.
