It was very late when we arrived in Custer and as we were staying across the street, we saw the "open" sign still on and went for dinner. Service was slow and the food is OK, nothing fancy although they do try, my husband said his shrimp pasta dish was fine but my meat was overcooked and too salty. Wine... More

Even though reservations are recommended we were seated right away. The service was excellent. The food was phenomenal. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a decent sit-down meal.

We were staying across the street and The Captains Table was recommended. I was hesitant after reading the reviews but we gave it a try and had a good meal and pleasant evening. My husband had a Steak and I had a small Prime Rib both with Baked Potato and other trimmings....all tasted good and we shared a bottle of... More

Recomended by locals at our hotel. Fish had been frozen for a while and tasted. Prime rib lacked flavor and was very fatty. Daughter Mac and Cheese was suppose to be homade...it was the kind from a blue box. Very expensive for what we got.

When we arrived at the restaurant, it was very crowded and we were asked if we had a reservation. The host looked concerned when we told her we didn't - but she was able to seat us at a nice booth in the bar area. The food was very good. They had a buffet-ish type set up in the other... More

We came in for late dinner over the weekend and were the only customers. The service was good but the food was just ok...We ordered the chicked fried chicken special $16.95 and it consisted of store made heat and serve items...instant potatos and frozen chicken breast topped with canned gravy. We also had the fettuccini alfredo and it also tasted... More

Stayed at Comfort Inn across the road from Captains Table so decided to walk across and try the food. Quirky little place but very friendly staff and good menu. We asked for the wine list which seemed to surprise the waiter who thought we wanted a glass rather than a bottle. However the Californian Pinot Noir was excellent at around... More

With limited options on a Monday Night in Custer,SD we chose Captain's Table. I am so happy that we did. The meal was wonderful and they have the very best Tartar Sauce. The atmosphere is very cool too with the high booths and the curtains in all the corner nooks. Our table had a variety of entrees, from the Prime... More

So when you walk into the restaurant the immediate reaction is that this is going to be your run of the mill local town not-so-good restaurant, but what a pleasant surprise. The soup is actually home made and very good. The parmesan crusted cod was delicious and again it's clear all the cooking is local, there's none of the out... More

This little gem, hidden in Custer, SD, is fabulous! Delicious, inexpensive prime rib and steaks, not to mention seafood, a great soup and salad bar, full bar, great atmosphere. We're from Southern Oregon but make sure to eat here every time we come through (at least once a year). Should be rated #1 for dinner in Custer.
