Il Forno in Volcan, Panama is under NEW management. Chef, Richard Castro has got it right. Consistently good food and reasonably priced. I have tried the Chicken Cordon Blue three times and the quality for the reasonable price of $6:00 really can't be beaten. My wife ordered the nacho plate and this generously heaped plate was more than she could... More

Sadly, Il Forno has closed its doors. They were unable to sustain the business. That's too bad as Joe was very good at what he did.

We stopped for lunch on a very rainy Saturday and were the only customers there. The owner, Joe, greeted us. We were disappointed to learn that the only menu offerings were pizza and pasta, as one of us is seriously gluten intolerant. We explained to Joe and he said, No problem. He had just been to the market and had... More

Joe ran Il Forno from ~ 2007-2001. Il Forno changed management ~ 2011. When we came to Volcan May-June 2013 we tried to stop in just about every other night, but it was closed each time we tried. It turns out Joe had come back and was cleaning up before re-opening. When we came back to Volcan after a couple... More

We decided to try for our first evening in Volcan restaurante Il Forno. The chef Piero and his lovely wife Veronica greated us personally at the door and took the time to explain the menu and offer us a surprising Italian wine selection. The restaurant sits near the main town road and the decor has lots of character, woodwork, cozy... More

Is it the wood fired brick oven, that makes the food so good or is it the fact that Pietro uses REAL parmezzan cheese. The pizza crust is light and thin(the way its supposed to be) and the taste . . .well if you have ever been to Italy then you will know how good this food really is. Il... More

We were visiting the Volcan Area on a side trip from Boquete. We decided to try Il Forno based on recommendations and were very pleased. It is located in a charming wooden house with lots of character. My husband had the spaghetti with sausage and red sauce and I had the spaghetti with smoked trout and sun-dried tomatoes in an... Great food, original italian flavor. Familiar and romantic atmosphere, very cozy. 10/10 i went with my husband and enjoyed an exceptional Salom Carpaccio. The pizzas are so delicious, great ingredients and portions. I love the fact that we got to meet the chef, which i consider a more personalized treatment. I recommend this place to everyone since it satisfies the... More
