Hands down the best margarita ever. I may go as far as saying the pineapple cilantro margarita is my favorite drink in the quarter. Service was really good during our visit.

El Gato Negro is delicious Mexican food. Get the sautéed Red Snapper a la Cancun, this dish is excellent. The sauce on the fish is out of this world. You do get very generous portions so bring your appetite. The Chicken Mole is just OK, the fajitas are very good. Great place to go if you are craving Mexican.

Based on a rec from a Chowhounder I follow we headed to El Gato for their Carrot lime margarita. In theory it sounded amazing. Not that it was bad it just was not as fantastic as I had hoped or hyped. Tried a few dishes between the 6 of us, they were a good snack. But with all the fabulous... More

The drink menu is enormous, the food is hot, fresh and delicious and the atmosphere is great. Went for lunch with my brother and his wife, sat outside in a little cubby hole and watched a pigeon poop on the guy next to us. Beware, if you sit outside. I don't believe I've ever laughed so hard in my life.... More

Ever since we found this place a few years ago on our annual trip to NOLA, it's a must. The pineapple cilantro margaritas are dee-lish! I had the ceviche and it was wonderful...must have had a whole avocado, blue-fin tuna, and the rest...SO good! My friends meals were just as tasty. A couple of years ago, we didn't think the... More

A place I had been hearing about and anxious to try. Service was top notch, polite and prompt. Menu looked creative and inspired. The Margarita was perfect. Sadly, my food, although it looked beautiful, was so over-salted that I couldn't eat it. In New Orleans, one NEVER sends back food, so I was S.O.L. I'm going to try again, as... More

The pineapple-cilantro margarita was highly recommended and what a great recommendation it was. Our group of 8 went in for it early in the day and at the same time ordered some guacamole'. Everything was great and to watch the guacamole' being hand made at the table was even better - we got to see every ingredient added and see... More

El Gato Negro in the French Quarter was so good we ate there two times for dinner in our one week vacation in NOLA. Food was excellent and plentiful. Kevin, our server, couldn't have been nicer. Loved the pitchers of Sangria. Try it; you won't 'like' it; you'll 'love' it!

Go to the Lakeview Gato Negro. It is much better than the one in the Quarter. Everything on the menu tastes fresh and well prepared. It can be crowded so get there early - or late. Try the avocado salad. Wonderful.

I ordered the skirt steak and it came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was served with a slice of lime that added the perfect amount of acidity. Some of the best salsa I have ever tasted. Would love to go there again!
