NYC prices without the good service

Margaritas are all on the rocks, evidently made by one person because they came out sloooowly. We ordered 3, got 2 then the third. Margaritas are good (not great). Ordered mixed grill, medium steak; steak, shrimp, vegies were good chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. Couldn't send it back... read more

An spontaneous afternoon trip to the French Market brought us to El Gato Negro for a light bite before heading to listen to music. My husband has the fajita salad which he said was delicious and I the tamale plate with he orange oregano sauce which was a delight to my palate. We also each had a glass of sangria... More

This place was awesome!! The chips and salsa they give you in the beginning are a great way to start the meal. The drink are HUGE!! They are definitely worth the money. I also had the taco a la carte. The food was hot and the drink was spectacular. I would definitely come back here.

The margaritas here are incredible! They were out of the satsuma margarita but the Orange-lime margarita was a good alternative. I also tried the house favorite pineapple-cilantro margarita, which was surprisingly tasty. The salsa and chips were fresh and plentiful. And definitely splurge on the table side guacamole--awesome!

I had the most amazing stuffed avocado entree for dinner in this restaurant. It was stuffed with lobster, shrimp, and mexican cheeses in a rich, creamy sauce. It was decadent. The server recommended this dish along with another eggplant (mexican style) that is not on the menu. If you are in NOLA and are on "overload" of the fabulous food of the... More

The service was quick and friendly, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. Great location by the French Market. Wonderful casual vibe inside. If you get a chance try the guacamole that is freshly prepared right at your table. Yum.

Every time I visit a new Mexican restaurant, I judge it by the fajitas. The chicken fajitas here absolutely melt in your mouth! They are by far the best fajitas I've ever had. The restaurant is pretty small, and kinda loud if there are large groups dining together, but do not miss eating here.

The food was good. however, the menu prices on the window menu were not honored. they said it was the "old menu" and refused to honor the price shown. Our dish was over $7 higher and was only presented on the "current" menu as "market price". we were given a terrible flan as a concession though.
