Stopped in for lunch after reading some of the reviews. Ordered a top shelf Blood of the devil margarita and nachos with chorizo. Margarita was smooth and tasty. The nachos were delicious and the portion was large and I had a hard time finishing them. Service was good. Would definitely recommend.

We tried to stop here last time we were in town and luckily this time they were open. Started out with pineapple Patron margaritas and the stuffed avocado. The stuffed avocado was oh so good! The sauce was very tasty! We should have stopped there but we ordered the combo fajitas with steak and gulf shrimp. Very good portions and... More

We were looking for some Mexican food as well as cold drinks. The service was helpful with the menu and very capable. They charge for the toppings on the tacos but actually that is a good thing because you can order just what you like and in larger portions. The food was very tasty and the atmosphere where we were... More

We are big fans of tequila and Mexican food and didn't think we would find this kind of place in New Orleans, especially in such a touristy area. It was one of the best Mexican food meals I have ever had. They have a very extensive tequila menu at great prices. The ceviche made fresh at the table was one... More

Restaurant is across street from the Farmers Market. Great service and good food. The Chicken Mole was one of the best I have had. The chicken was a whole breast covered in the mole sauce served with rice and beans. Very, very tasty. I walked in carrying a daiquiri from the market and was not told "to leave it at... More

Stopped in for a quick bite and refreshing drinks and was not disappointed. We sat outside in the small courtyard in the back and it was a perfect little hideaway to get away from the heat and just chill out. Our server was very knowledgeable of what was on the menu and I took his advice on eating the spicy... More

The best part about this restaurant was the service. We had one in our party with severe dietary allergies and we called ahead and they said they would completely cater to her, and they did! Food was great. Service was fantastic! Our waiter was super nice and joked around with us and made things to order and customized dishes. Great... More

We decided we wanted something other than Cajun and chose El Gato Negro based on reviews from TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. When we first walked in, there was a large table full of college age girls. Our first thought was, uh-oh, this is "Senor Frogs tourist cliche". Thank goodness we pushed past that initial thought. We ordered the table... More

Also posted a review for El Gato Negro, which appears to be the same place as this, except without "Mexican Restaurant" in the title. I'll say the same thing here as I said in the other review: great mojito, great watermelon margarita, great Mexican zucchini and shrimp appetizer. Forgettable sampler platter with tamales, quesadillas, beans, rice, etc. Overall, good place... More

Just went in for a light salad. The Gato was very tasty with house made dressing. I also had the blood of the devil margarita with Serrano infused tequila, cranberry, and lime. Highly recommend!
